Trying to figure out which tractor best suits my needs, I own about 140 acres but not a farmer, most of the land is timber. I want 4 wheel drive and a loader. Most work I do is bush hogging, moving some trees, and moving dirt. Trying to figure out if going with the more expensive Case IH C series tractor or John Deere 5065 is worth the money compared to like the New Holland work master. I like the transmission of the Case Series and 5065 with the 12F/12R and power shuttle, seems like it may be a little more efficient for on lots of things compared to the manual shuttle on the Work masters. I put about 150 hours a year on a tractor. Any thoughts? I have a Case IH Farmall 45 that just isn't quite enough tractor at times so I need a little more HP, I am planning to sell or trade this tractor, it is a great tractor with hydrostatic transmission.

If I were going bigger from a hydrostatic I would rule out any non power/hydro/what-ever-else they're called. IMHO it would be a major step back.

Good point, yeah it would be a set back, I am gonna miss the hydrostatic transmission, I have considered the kubota mx5800 to keep hydrostat, tough decisions

I meant to say, if going away from a hydrostatic machine, I'd want a power/hydro/what-ever SHUTTLE SHIFT machine. It may still be a step back transmission wise, but a mechanical shuttle would be a leap.

Yeah, I knew what u meant and its a good point, there is a big gap there between hydrostatic and the mechanical shuttle, I understand. I hate to leave a hydrostatic transmission now that I have gotten used to it.

Please don't take what I said as condescending. :)

Are you looking for new only?

No, does not have to be new, I am open to the right used tractor as well.

I'm a Case IH Dealer. The "A" series is pretty basic, no frills. Not a bad tractor, just very basic. I like the 75C myself. Power shuttle, great size, dyno's higher than its rated. We sell them with cab and loader 4x4 for under $50K.

I would like to speak with you about how much a 65 C series would cost with a loader and no cab, I am very interested in that tractor

I sent you a PM. I'd be happy to price you a 65C, but you more than likely have a Case IH dealer closer to you than I would be in VA. I'll just be happy to get you a price quote to help you find the best deal locally.
