I've been debating buying the dedicated plow assembly (54" quick-hitch style), but will likely be moving snow banks with the FEL. Don't want to spend a ton of time switching between the two... so in my searches, I came across this on the internet:

http://www.johnnyproducts.com/images...owSr 013.jpg

It's a 60" power-angle plow blade and costs just under $700. I thought I'd then buy the Curtis-type bracket for the 200cx loader and have the two welded together... if I disable the 'rolling' function of the FEL, then I should be able to run this in place of the bucket.

Anything I'm missing?

Ultimately, I think this is the best solution for my situation. I don't have a really long driveway, but using the FEL alone takes a long time to plow. I just can't justify $2500 for the Curtis set-up. As nice as it is, it also seems quite heavy and sticks way out from the loader arms.

Your thoughts are appreciated. Also - I did post this on the JD site, but there's no action over there. Since this is not really specific to one tractor manufacturer, maybe it would helpful to others to see/discuss this design.

Can't Kubota repo your tractor if you put an implement on it named "Johnny Plow Jr."? :D

An interesting idea but I can't imagine all the flex that would have in it or how it would be better than just using the FEL. If I had a really long drive I would look at a dedicated blade. My drive is 400ft and I'm pleased with the blade so far.

I looked at the same thing, but decided it wouldn't really work for me, so here is what I am doing. My local dealer came up with this idea.

I am getting the TG54" manual angle front blade from kubota.

Using part (male part) of the quick hitch adapter and welding it to a bracket/bar to connect onto the loader arms (bucket removed).

Then the plow will connect as normal to the quick hitch receiver, except for the fact that it will be on the loader arms instead of the bumper.

I may not have explained it exactly right, but I will take a few pics when I get the setup.

I've looked t these also and was pretty sure I could make a mount for it. After looking at how the Kubota blade mounts and the why the Johnny Blade mounts, I changed my mind. I really didn't see how a strong enough mount could be made with just bolting to the front of the BX bumper. I dont think the frame is strong enough without some bracing underneath like the Kubota blade.

I use the quick hitch assembly and front hydrolic blade. I made the change over today and it took me about an hour for the entire switch, which included tarping the FEL. And, this is the first time I did the change. So there really wasn't much hassle in the change. but, you are right it's not cheap. I think you were about right at the $2,500 mark for the front blade and quick hitch assembly.

You mentioned your driveway wasn't all that long, had you thought of a rear blade, they're not expensive. Prior to this year i had used a rear blade for my driveway, it's about 150' long and the rear blade did a fine job. I just didn't like the manual moving of the blade from left to right when I needed to change the direction of the snow flow.
