I was told that adding stabilizer in your gas helps keep the injectors clean as well as beneficial to the engine - which is the reason why I use additives and treat my gas.

If interested in keeping the fuel system in best possible condition and don't mind spending a few extra $$$, use high test gas e.g. Shell V-Power - with no Ethanol.

How does stabilizer cause white smoke to pour out of the front exhaust? Im curious to know why.

I never said that the use of stabilizer would cause smoke from your engine. I was just curious as to why you are using it.

Well farmbuilt is correct. JD does have the recommendation to add stabilizer to each can of gas. Here from JD's owners manual.

Using Proper Fuel and Stabilizer

Always use fresh, clean fuel that is purchased in a quantity that can be used within approximately 30 days. Fuel stabilizer should always be added to the fuel each time fuel is purchased. Add stabilizer before filling the fuel container to insure proper mixing. Such practice helps prevent engine performance problems and allows fuel storage in the machine all year without draining.

I have a 2017 x590 with about 10 hours on it. I have experienced white smoke once during startup and I think it was because I parked the tractor on a steep downward slope (engine facing down the hill) for about an hour before restarting it. Upon restart, I had a thick white smoke for about 5 seconds and then it went away. I hope it was because of the hill and not an engine issue. I've had no other issues and I normally park on a level surface.

I wouldn't worry about it, it didnt smoke when you first got it, my guess is it clears up and if it doesnt- thats the beauty of JD's 4 year warranty- you are covered

Started it again tonight and seems fine again. No sign of smoke. I'm going to assume it may have been a small piece of gunk or condensation from temp changes. Will keep an eye out. Someone recommended I put some sea foam in gas tank and run it til empty. Apparently it cleans out everything. Don't think I need that though at 88 hours on engine.

Mine did it once. It was after mowing for a couple hours and I had just washed it off. When it started up it smoked for a few moments but cleared right up. I've had Briggs engines do the same thing. I think it's just oil going into the carb through the breather tube. I checked the oil level and it was fine so I didn't worry about it. Hasn't done it since. I had a Craftsman mower that had an issue where if you bogged the engine down it would do the same thing but it was repeatable. If you accidentally scalped the grass it would smoke like crazy for several minutes. But the oil level wouldn't drop so apparently it takes very little oil to make a lot of smoke.

Don't worry about the Nay-sayers about using additives.I used diesel & gas additives for the last 20 plus years.Never a fuel related problem.Ever see what ethanol does?
