Hi Jim - Lord knows that I know all about the sales tax-free land of "Live Free or Die"... and even hope to live there someday soon... but I haven't found a tractor place up there with an affordable tiller that will cover a 68-70" track... centered or offset! All I've found up there are the pricey "super-premium" brands. :(

If you know of one, please post about it here or sent me a PM! :) Thanks!!!

I'd let my "Fingers do the walking" and make some phone calls. I do not know of any off of the top of my head. There has to be some up there that sell what you want.

Perhaps so Jim... but I certainly haven't found them in my travels. You've got some very nice tractor dealerships up there... and I believe I've visited most of them at one time or another since last summer... but none that I could find selling what I would consider reasonably affordable tillers. :( Quite to the contrary, they were mostly all trying to convince me to spend more and buy one of their super-premium/commercial brands (They take their tilling very seriously up there!!!). Would have taken a third mortgage on this house to buy some of them.

Have you considered looking at a "Top of the Line" used one in excellent condition?

Hi Jim - Absolutely! With my limited funds, I will consider anything! :D Haven't found anything decent yet in used... even in a simple landscape rake. :(

Lots of folks tell me that you should never buy a used tiller... but in the right circumstances and for the right price, I would consider it. One dealer way up North was going to rebuild a "near-new" customer-trashed Kuhn tiller and resell it... quite possibly at a price I could afford... but he could give no commitment on either schedule or price.

I bought my used 4 foot JD tiller for $100.00. Upon using it for the first time it cost me another hundred for new bearings. The lower bearings had rusted up somehow from sitting for too long. The one inside the side case where the chain is completely obliterated itself. I even had to weld up the chain case cover where the chain ate a hole through it. I never heard it because I was wearing ear muffs. So you do need to at least check it out real well before buying a used one. I figured for $100.00 I couldn't go wrong either way. I will keep my eye open for another one for you.

Thanks Jim... but remember that I've got to cover that 68-70" track one way or another. If this was just for me and maybe a one time deal, I would buy something cheap, used and small... and just rake it out afterwards... but this is for a business... such as it is... and I've got to cover that track! :)
