Over the weekend I picked up a new King Kutter TG-48-XB rotary tiller. Now if the ground ever dries up (raining again today), I can go out and see how it works. Plus it was nice to find out it was available in orange or red...so of course I got the matching red. The best thing of all - no more breaking my back trying to man-handle the hand-me-down 25 year old walk behind front-tine tiller.

Many of us on the forum have been real happy with our KK tillers. You do know they are shipped without gear lubricant. If a dealer set it up you may be fine, if not you better check. Might want to check anyway. Enjoy.

Where did you pick that up? I have not seen the red ones yet.

You'll like the XB tiller, mine works real nice. The gear boxes on mine where factory filled with 000 grease and I'm sure yours are filled with the same grease, but check to make sure there is lube in the boxes. I'm waiting on the ground to dry out too.

I have a King Kutter TG-48-XB rotary tiller for 2 years now. This is the 3rd season. I till gardens in my area for people. The past 2 year I tilled enough gardens to more than pay for my tiller and tractor. The tiller is holding up real good. The tine are very good, no ware showing at all. You guys will love this tiller. It will turn the soil to powder.

I have had mine for 2 years now and love it. It does leak oil out of the cover on the end gearcase, but I just hook it up, top up the fluids and grease and use it for the season. Our gardens look like potting soil when I get done tilling with that thing.

Thanks for all the info.

I picked it up at Turner Tractor in Evans City, PA. I was unaware of the red ones until the dealer said he had it in red or orange.

The dealer indicated he added some additional gear lube and greased the fittings, but I double checked when I got home and added a few more shots of grease to the pto shaft and the tiller. I still need to cut the PTO shaft, but I'll get to it this weekend (I never had to do this before, but the instructions are pretty straight forward and I imagine I'll measure 4 or 5 times before I actually cut it).

Cheers,
John

When I cut mine, I measured 4 or 5 times first but I still needed to cut each end twice....my arm was killing me by the time I was done....probably the dull hack saw blade

That's a good idea and one thing to take into consideration before you do that is decide whether you want a quick hitch or not later on because if you cut the shaft now it will be too short if and when you get a quick hitch just a heads up.

Oh and the KK tillers are real good I like mine it does a great job sure wish mine was Red!

Better to cut it twice then having to go to the dealer to buy another one. Which means you would still be cutting it twice, just spending a lot more money to do it.
