Kioti CK2610 HST 60" bucket
Hi Guys,

Just got a new CK2610 HST delivered yesterday. It seems like a really solidy built tractor- awesome fit and finish, but I've already got a few problems.

1. When the driver dropped off the tractor he said that the gear range selector was sticky but that it would loosen up as I used it more. I didn't know enough to question him more on that at the time. At any rate, in the two hours I've used the tractor it's extremely difficult to get it to go into L, M, or H a lot of the time. I studied the posts on this and it seems to be a problem other owners experience. As per some of the posts I read on this forum, I tried simultaneously playing with the clutch pedal and the forward and back foot pedals, while laying moderate, but steady pressure on the gear range selector and, for the 6 or so times I tried it, it seemed to work. Playing with those pedals seemed to momentarily free things up in the gear range selector such that I was able to slip it into the desired range.

So should I be happy with this? Is it just the way these tractors are or should I be trying to get Kioti to fix it?

2. After about 2 hours of use (4.5 hours total on it now), I noticed a few dribbles, small streams of hydraulic fluid coming out of the bottom of the bucket hydraulic ram (right where the shiny metal piston goes in to the housing). I don't think that I could have done anything to damage it. I used it very lightly, just trying to get the feel of operating the tractor.

I'm not familier with hydraulics, but I'm assuming that this is not normal. I'm going to contact the dealer about it tomorrow.

So that's my first Kioti experience- not a great start, but hopefully I can get this sorted out and don't have any more problems for a long time.

Hi

No fluid leak is acceptable

Call dealer and have repaired

Is there any scoring on the cyl? Maybe as simple as a seal has rolled over on itself.

If you did not overfill bucket and have rocks hit cyl then definitely not your fault

I can't speak to shifting

A new tractor should shift like butter in my opinion

Good luck

Joel

No, I never overfilled it, never really used it that much. I checked the cylinder and it looks like brand new (must be something going on inside the cylinder). I'm going to give the dealer a call today.

Definitely give the dealer a call on the leak, that is not normal.

I have the same problem with the range selector and have to depress the fwd pedal slightly sometimes. I also have found that if I pull the lever handle towards me when shifting if helps.

bier1064,

I'm curious if you addressed your range selector problem to your dealer and if so what did he say?

danny77,

I did call and they told me it was normal and to slightly depress the fwd or rev pedal.

I just spoke to the dealer. He said that the L.M.H. gear range selector issue is normal. He said to press the brake to get it to shift. I tried the brake technique several times- it seems to work if I'm on a bit of a hill and roll a bit, but doesn't work well on flat areas. Playing with it this morning, I found that if I push in on the clutch, apply medium pressure on the gear range lever, release the clutch and then press slightly on the forward pedal, that it will then allow the gear range to slide into place. It clanked a few times while doing so, but if I go easy, it doesn't seem to make any noise.

This is an annoying quality of this tractor, but I guess I still prefer this mechanical system (which I can make work), vs something that might be electric/computer controlled and when it doesn't work, it really doesn't work.

Regarding the leaking cylinder, he said that it isn't supposes to do that. He said that he rarely sees a problem with those cylinders and when he does (once a year) it's usually a piece of wood chip that got wedged in the piston and disrupted the seals. I can't see how I got a wood chip in there, but stranger things have happened- maybe just an extremely odd incident.

He said that if it broke all on it's own it's warranted. The problem for me is that he's super far away and I don't have a trailer. I'm guessing that shipping it will be really expensive (he said warranty won't cover shipping). So when I pull it off I'll see what a local shop would charge to repair it. If it's something more involved that just a seal, then I'll send the cylinder to the dealer to presumeably get it repaired under warranty.

I'll keep you guys posted.

danny77,

If you are in CDA Idaho there is a Kioti dealer close to you in Post Falls (Jordan Sales). I would think that any Kioti dealer could do warranty work.

How often to you change gears with an HST ? The few I've tried new could be a pain but I very seldom use anything but m so it's not a big deal. With my last tractor I doubt if I used the clutch more than 10 times in over 20 years with no ill effects or grinding. My Kioti only has 300 hrs. on it now and can go from easy to difficult to shift with no apparent reason. I notice one of my bucket cylinders had been dripping a mon. ago I cleaned up the area so I could see it was going to be warranty but hasn't leaked a drop since so guess it healed it's self ?

Billrog, I"ll probably use it in low most of the time. I was under the impression that I was supposed to return the gear selector to neutral when I was done using the tractor and then start the engine in neutral. With doing that, then I'd be constantly moving it from neutral to low and back again (that's where it often gets stuck). Do you think it's ok just to leave it in L all the time when staring and stopping it?

That's interesting what happened with you bucket cylinder. Maybe I'll just clean it up and use it for a few more weeks and see what happens. I don't think that it can cause any damage by using it with a small leak?
