Hi guys,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I bit the bullet and picked up a new Kubota MX5000 last weekend, LA852 Loader w/QA and canopy installed. Out the door 23,200 with loader/canopy so after shopping it around in Texas, this was pretty good I think.....

Did I do ok?

Thanks,
PTF

Congrat's!

It sounds like it was a great deal to me. If I remember correctly, I paid 23,100 with a Woods LC108 FEL, R4's, and 4WD (before sales tax). I also didn't get a canopy with mine, I bought it later and installed it myself, which was an additional $400.

I purchased my tractor last August.

What does PHD mean? Is yours 4WD? Do you have any pictures to post?

No photos yet, have a few from the dealer's lot, but just a plain-ol MX5000.
My dealer put the loader on last Friday and she's ready to go for this weekend. I'll post a few shots once I get her on the ground at my place.

First new tractor purchase - and for 20 acres, 95% of which are trees, I think i made the right choice. I used my dad's 29HP JD for the last 2 years, and it did fine, but the 5' Rhino did bog down at times. We'll see. I'm afraid of the "not enough tractor" syndrome - but know it's the same in trucks, homes and bank accounts ;)

Not a lot of mowing, more moving brush, clearing fence, and mowing the 1 acre or so of weeds.

Pics to come.

Congratulations! I think that you will be more than pleased with this tractor.
I purchased my MX5000, LA852 loader, Bush Hog SX 72 Box blade, and canopy just about a year ago this week. I have not been disappointed:D
I paid 22,500 delivered to my ranch 72 miles from dealer.
As a matter of fact, he came down to pick it up yesterday to do 50 hr. service and fix a leaking cylinder.
I think I am fortunate as he is picking up and delivering back for the first 50 hr. service. He is only charging me for materials( fluid etc.) No labor or transport charge.
This is a lot of tractor for the price. Good luck with yours.
We'll await your pictures;)

I have been looking at the same tractor. I notice you have shopped Texas. Let me know which dealer you chose. I have looked at Allied in Conroe and Normangee Tractor. Both these dealers are fairly close to me in Huntsville area. I think the MX5000 4wd will fit my needs nicely on 50 acres and like you I have a Timber exemption, so mostly trees. I was thinking of getting a grappler for moving downed timber as well.

DocWill -

I shopped around, created a spreadsheet and started calling from Normangee, to Palestine, to Arkansas to Dallas to Frisco.
Rumor has it, after talking to a dealer today, there is a 4% price increase coming soon. Don't know if that's 3-1 or 3-31... I was told closer to 3-1, but Normangee said their price was firm till 3-31.

As an FYI, I was originally looking for an L4400, 4WD, AG, QA LA703, Foldable ROPS, so I based my MX pricing on this, with spot phone checking on the MX.

Prices are as follows over the phone:
Normangee: 19829
Rucker (Palestine) - 19833
Deen Implement (Wills Point) - 19950 w/Bush Hog loader, not Kubota
Houston County(Crockett) - 20250
Six and Mango - 20800
Fiser (AR) - 21000

Normangee is a great dealer from what I hear, Larry was always good to my father for implement purchases. Houston County has also been good to deal with, we've purchased implements there as well.

I ended up with Rucker in Palestine, for 3 reasons, price, customer service and location. Elaine met me on a Saturday even though they were under winter hours, (I live in north Texas and only get down there on the weekends) VERY prompt at answering calls, (gave me her personal cell phone if i had any questions) easy to deal with and customer service focused. I'm not going to say I'm a demanding customer, but do ask a bunch of questions and do quite a bit of research, the web and the dealer.

The 5100 is out now, expect a $1900? increase in price with the new engine, at least that's what I've been told, unless someone can locate you a MX5000. Mine was on their lot since August, I think most folks will go with a M5040, but my size 14 boots kept hitting the console on the clutch and the shifter seemed weird, not to mention the digital dash/speedo wasn't up my alley - one more thing to break later. The M5040 isn't that much more - 2K? But liked the smaller footprint of the MX5000 with all my trees.

The wife already wasn't too keen on a purchase, so I'll wait on the grapple and 3rd valve till the summer or fall or at 50 hrs service when the MX is back in the shop.

Hope that helps - PTF
PM me if you want more details.....

Thanks PTF... Great info. I will have to wait until May to make my purchase. I would like to save enough to put 1/2 down to keep monthly paments low. Plus have one other debt (septic system) that I will have to pay for. I will continue to do research and price shop. I have heard good things about Normangee from some of their customers I know. I will look into the Palastine dealer. I did not know that the 5000 was going to be discontinued. I hope to find one on a lot. Keep us posted on how your machine prforms.

Doc,
I live just west of Lake Conroe in Montgomery, and while I'm not ready to jump on a new tractor just yet, I am interested in what folks find in their shopping experiences at the local dealers. Have you been to the dealer in Huntsville? I've recently started buying parts there, but nothing big.
Let us know how the shopping goes.

Larry
