New L3130 - What size mower/brush hog?

I agree different terrain, mower size, & wt , brand, gear box . The list is endless. Take all the facts, all the opinions, talk to a few dealers. Make the decision that is right for you. No one is right or wrong just different uses or needs. That is What this Forum is for, I think.

I also have an L3130 GST and have been looking to trade my 5' rotary cutter (old Massey) for a 6'. I had a B2400 HST before I bought the L3130, and I used the 5' mower to bush-hog the snot out of some forested property I owned (if I could knock it over, I could cut it up - my only complaint at the time was I needed to keep weight in the loader to counterbalance the mower). The key to doing so, however, was that I went REALLY slow during the cutting. Now that I have a larger tractor with 1/3 more HP off the PTO than my old one I feel very comfortable getting a mower that is 20% wider.

As other posters have said, it all depends on what you're doing and how you choose to do it. Good luck with your choice.
