Got my new L3400 with FEL and box blade delivered a couple days ago. At present my barn is crammed with boxes of household stuff as we are building a new home. Tried to get the 3400 in the barn but cant get it all the way in save for elevating the FEL almost all the way up.

Question for you guys: is it ok to park/store your tractor with the FEL extended up in the air? I will only have to do this for about 2 weeks as the house is almost finished. After that I have plenty of room to store the tractor with the FEL on the ground. Does this cause any problems with the hydraulics or seals?

thanks!

It's ok for the tractor, but the stuff under the bucket may get damaged as it leaks down. New tractors should be very slow leak down rate, but they will go down.

I wouldn't do that. It does no harm to the tractor but, as john_bud said, there's a good chance that it'll leak down and crush the stuff beneath the FEL. The wife might not like that .

This thread is obviously labeled wrong. It SHOULD read:

"Barn too small for new L3400 w FEL & boxblade"

C'mon guys....

Stick a 2x4 under it if you can make room for it. That will hold it up.

My L2800 w/ 5' brush hog was 6" longer than the shed I was going to put it in. As I'm not going to take off the BH every time I use it, my Bota now stays in the garage, and my lovely (and understanding) wife's vehicle sits outside with mine.

I say, if its only going to be a couple of weeks, just store it outside! The all sit on the lot at the dealer and they don't seem to be any worse off. My new L3400 is getting stored until we can add the shed roof to that side of the barn.

The 60" rotary cutter will be moved and the 'Bota backed into its place and a shed roof about 12' out from the barn will eventually cover it all!

Short piece (8-12") of 1" or 1 1/2" angle iron resting on top of the cylinder rod between the top of the cylinder & the loader arm will hold the loader and not allow it to leak down sorta like a safety lock. (old mechanic's trick) And for extra precaution you can run a hose clamp around it so that it will not come loose.
