The L45 is in addition to the L39. Its not a replacment. There is still alot of demand for the GST transmission. This is just an HST+ version of the same machine.

So, Neil, no other changes in addition to the larger engine and HST? What
about the BT1000 hoe, now offering an integrated thumb? Since it is
changed, I guess it fully replaces the earlier BT1000 that came on the L39?
So so far I have heard that they will be "released" late march early april? Is that about right? Very anxious to try one out. Havent found a brochure or any more pics or info on them unfortunately, been looking!
I own a Kubota L3400 with FEL 463 and a Woods BH80 backhoe. The tractor I really had my sights on was the L39 but I just wasn't happy with the GST transmission. Stopped by my dealer today and finally see that Kubota finally introduced a version of the L39 with HST (ie. L45).
I got a chance to drive it and try it out today. The backhoe was very smooth and powerful. Overall the unit felt much more powerful than mine which isn't entirely surprising. There's a lot to like about it except the price. The dealer near me indicated the L45 was in the $40K price range. Given I've seen L39's running about $34K, a $6K premium for HST seems like a lot of money. I was hoping that the loader or backhoe would have more capacity but they are essentially the same (loader has a few more pounds breakout). There are some other small things like the crawl feature. I didn't see the thumb on the L45 I tested so I'm not sure if the hydraulics are std but the thumb itself is extra. I'd be interested in other folks opinions.
