After lurking for a few months and researching, I finally pulled the plug and purchased a new tractor for my 20 ac. retirement homestead (that I haven't built yet). I'll take delivery this week and thought I'd join. Lot's of information here; I'm a moderator on the Dan Wesson forum and can appreciate the work that goes into keeping everything on an even keel.

Ed- I retired from Ft Polk a few years ago after 30 years of Army life and decided to plant the family just outside of DeRidder.

I have my house and shop pads built. Shop construction begins 1st week of OCT; 30x30x12 with two 10x30 wings on either side. Waiting on the construction loan from the bank for the house- plans completed and building permit are in hand. Planning to partner with NRCS for native grassland and longleaf pine restoration. Just want to grow some deer, quail, and turkey habitat. Plan to do a 1 ac garden or so to start and see how things go/ grow.
