I have become a fan of Simplicity over the last couple of years and needed a heavy duty mower with differential lock or 4wd for some lake property I have that has some hills I have to mow.
I was trolling Craigslist and found a 2000 Landlord DLX with 54" deck at auction. Well I took a chance and won it for $650.
So far it is great. It was all original except new blades and battery. Oil was clean and so far it runs good. The meter showed 670 hours but it had stopped working. I did learn about adjusting the valves on an overhead valve Briggs Vanguard (initially thought the battery was bad). But it has plenty of power and does not smoke or use oil.
I did have to replace the roller bar and the hour meter, but so far I am thrilled. It cuts better than any mower I have ever used and does it in about half the time I was taking.
I have some winter projects to do like adding wheel weights or liquid to the tires, and the power steering is sloppy, it drifts to right or left and I have to over correct. (Anyone who has done this I would appreciate some advice). Attached are a couple of pics from the auction.
