You did good, nice lawn. Is that triple rye, three kinds of rye, or other grass seed mixed in. We can put down rye here in Florida, but when the temp gets above about 85, it dies out. It is just for a winter green here. It will even grow on cement, trailer bed cracks, if given enough water.

Thanks for the compliment. I looked at a bag of grass seed that I had left over and I was mistaken. I used a Perennial Ryegrass/Bluegrass mix. TSC does also sell a triple rye seed and for whatever reason that was stuck in my head. I can get you the percentages of the mixture if you are interested.

I have noticed that where I was loading my spreader in my gravel driveway while I was seeding, I have a nice patch of grass coming in. You are right, this stuff will grow anywhere.

You did a great job. That rock picker on the bobcat is one of my least favorite tools. I rank it right up there with a manual posthole digger. It is the best tool for the job you had to do, though. I can't believe that you were able to manually water 3 acres. I installed alot of grass in NW IN and did it in a very simular way to what you did. Keep mowing, fertilizing, and use spot weed killers and you will have a golf course in no time.

I agree with your assessment of the rock hound. I have used them a few times and they just about beat you to death, and you suck a lot of dirt in dry conditions, but they are useful tools.

Watering was not fun, and I did the best I could to keep up, but it was by no means perfect. I stressed my poor well and pump pretty hard for a few weeks.
