New LS 240HE Options for Remote Valve Detent

I've had my MT125 for a year and logged close to 150 hours. I'm trading it in for a MT240HE with a backhoe. There are a few options:

Remote Valve- 1 pair (2 outlets) or 2 pair (4 outlets)
Detent Kit

I think the dealer wanted 1k for the remote valves. What implements could I use the remote valve for. How is the remote valve different than a detent?

On my LS XR4140, remote valves (std equipment came with 2 pair) provide and control hydraulic fluid flow to remote connections at rear of tractor. When I bought backhoe, dealer installed detent kit (?) on one pair. Detent kit (detent position on remote valve) bypasses flow control from valve to control valve on implement.
For backhoe, I connect backhoe hoses to to one pair of remote valves and set that remote valve to detent. Then I can use control levers (valve controls) on backhoe to dig. I have a flail mower that i control swing on cantilever with remote valve (w/o detent position). Other implements that use hydraulic power would also require

Tony did a u tube (3) on how to install rear remotes on a 240 and i installed the the 2 sets remotes on my XG its not that hard to do. I think i paid about $ 500 for the 4 sets with every thing i needed but i did not want the detent Kit, Simply Country LS Tractor also a u tube on the rear remote and 3 function valve install.

Interesting question, does the backhoe require a set of remotes with detent on the mt240? I would think that it would. I would get both sets. Cheaper now than later. You may want to use other attachments. The detent kit allows the value to stay in the position that you put it. The valve without it returns to the center position. By using the detent valve for the backhoe, you put the valve into the on position and it supplies fluid to the backhoe full time.
I have 2 sets on my XR4150 and at times wish I had another. By backhoe has one hose that connects to one of the sides of the detent valve and the other goes to a connector in the axle of the tractor. This allows the fluid to go directly back. This was the factory setup on this tractor and backhoe.

My MT240 I ordered with 2 remotes, they also ran the backhoe off the detent set (FYI, I did not specify I wanted a detent type, but doesn't matter to me) I don't even have any other attachments... yet, just figured I will later down the road.
I think if you don't order the remotes, they plumb it directly from the valve under the seat and dump directly back into the tank/axle port.
I suggest ordering the remotes now (They are dealer installed anyway). You can use them for a hydraulic top link to quickly and easily tilt a blade or box blade or any other implements. You can power a log splitter with one or many other attachments.

You can run a grapple off the rear remote but many find it much more convenient to get the 3rd function on the loader, that is my plan eventually.

Bear, if you remove your BH, do you have the 3pt. I know on some brands, they most remove the 3pt to mount the BH. Depends on the property, but my grapple is one of the best things I have.

Yes, 3pt is all there and ready to use. Havent removed the BH as it's what I use the most so far. Looks like it will just require putting down the boom and the stabilizers to take weight off, pull 2 pins, ease forward and disconnect the 2 hoses.
I'll put some blocks under it too incase it leaks and creeps down. Also in my mind to minimize any pressure buildup.

Sounds like it is the same as my XR4150. I also have to pull the pin on my drawbar. Did not know this the first time.

If you don’t put the BH on a trolley to move it around after disconnect, leak down is no problem. As long as you can can back up over the loader subframe close enough to hook up loader hoses to tractor, you can use hydraulics to lift and line up the loader using the hook and the outriggers. I built a trolley for mine, but at approximately 1000lbs, my casters weren’t nearly strong enough were I could push it about on concrete. So now I just remove BH on my gravel driveway, let it leak down and reinstall it without any issues other than lining up everything.
