I'm about to buy a new tractor, and after many weeks of research, it looks like it will be a Kubota M6040. Will probably get the 4wd with hydraulic shuttle and the loader.

Normally I wouldn't buy during the first year of a new model, but the features on these tractors make them hard to pass up. Would like to hear about your experiences with the M5040, M6040 or M7040.

Also, any comments about the hydraulic self-leveling valve? It sounded like a good option to go with pallet forks.

By the way, I test drove a M7040 last week, and it was most enjoyable! Decided to go with the M6040 to have more left over for attachments.

Thanks!

We ordered and just recently took possession of a M9540HDC (Cab, Loader, 4wd & the hydraulic shuttle), and it leaves me speechless. I can't believe the grunt this machine has. The skid steer quick attach bucket has got to be one of the best things Kubota ever did. I just finished up a dual spike spear that will double as pallet forks and I can have the bucket off and spear on in just a couple minutes. This has got to be one of the best purchases we've made; every time I get in this thing it puts a smile on my face. LOL I say go for it, I wouldn't be overly concerned about a new model year because things didn't drastically change.

Congrats to both of you!

I would have purchased an M7040 if it had made any sense to have a tractor that large. The 7040 cab was exhilerating to drive and unbelievable comfortable. I was very impressed also with the ROPS models. I drove the 5040 and 6040. I can't imagine the power of the 9540!

I have a new M7040 HD. I'm not sure of your intended use, but I would recommend the 7040 over the 6040 for the limited slip front axle. The cost difference between the two is not that much.

Make sure you order the FEL third function valve option from the factory. It will come in handy for grapple, Etc work.

Muleskinner,
What kind of tires did you get on your M7040 HD?

Is the skid steer coupler a standard size, that makes it possible to use a large number of non-Kubota attachments? Or does it just describing a means of quick attaching Kubota loader implements that is similar to that used by skid steers?

The Kubota skid steer quick attach is a universal setup. Any skid steer attachments that you find which use the "universal skid steer quick attach" will hook straight up to the Kubota.

That's exactly right because I have already bought Quick Attach products and they are universal. Buy factory direct at 1-866-428-8224. Made in the good ole U.S.of A. God bless us all......

Thanks for the info! Definitely like the idea of having more attachments available.

What do you think about the optional "single-lever hydraulic quick coupler"? This appears to be for the loader. Not sure if it is positioned near the skid steer quick attach, or further back on the tractor. I wonder if it could be used in connecting a grappler, or just the loader arms?

gotkbot,

What part of south Arkansas are you in? We lived near Magnolia for a few years before moving here. My wife grew up in Magnolia - her Mom still lives there.
What Kubota dealer(s) are you working with for your new tractor purchase? I might have an opinion or two on the dealers down south. I also know of a good one in the Little Rock area. Send me a PM if you prefer, or I can post some info here.

I had an M5030 SU for about eleven years. Bought it new and it was like my right arm. Went with the M7040 for more pto hp. In getting used to it realized it was real similiar to the old M series in operating. I am real pleased with the choice and wouldn't think of going back. Sold the M5030 to a neighbor. He's happy also. It replaced an old Long as his primary tractor. If I was going to do anything I would probably go bigger.
