Tractor
Mahindra 5500 4wd
New Mahindra 5500 was delivered early Saturday morning, I have been viewing for months now on TBN, investigating which tractor would best suit my needs, I got out Saturday and graded my drive, (been needing it for months), I look forward to using this site, I know questions will come up, I used to own heavier equipment but decided it was time to downsize a little, so I am unsure on some of the tractor ins and outs. (used to run JD track loaders)

Hi JP: Congratulations on your new beautiful red machine! Did you get the ML 260 loader? Do you have R1 (ag) tires? What will you mainly be using it for? Welcome to the forum!

That's a heck of a machine! Use it's power wisely.

The loader is a ML265, I have about 15 acres to bushhog, very hilly here on the cumberland plateau, I will be moving hay around for a few head of cattle, but also run a stone business on the side. One of the main reasons for buying was for it. I went with the mahindra due to lift capacity and the overall weight of the tractor. I realize that I lost alot of stability when I sold track loader, but I beleive that if I watch out and make sure to go up or down a hill I will be all right, just not try to go sideways. Most of the places I work on have logging roads already and a tractor really doesn't scar the land as bad.

My experience has been that these tractors are very stable. I've had my 6000 in some very rough places. Just use your head and it should do fine.

Hey,

A couple buddies of mine both have the 2wd Mahindra 5500 tractors with the ML260 loaders. All 3 of us absolutely love both of their tractors. Extremely reliable and tuff. I also have 2 uncles, both with Mahindra 2810 4wd tractors who are very pleased with their tractors also.

I just sold my 97' Mahindra 485 DI last Sunday. I no longer need one that size anymore. Only reason its gone.

I'm quite sure that you'll be very pleased with yours also. You'll be amazed at what it can do.

And by the way, You have purchased about the best brand of tractor in the market in my opinion.

I wouldn't worry about re-sale either. I had mine for 2 years (I was the 3rd owner) and put 310 hrs on it and sold it for $100 LESS than what I paid for it!
