I got my new Max 28 in September and only got to mow a few times with my land pride mower. Now I have the 56" snow blower on and used it this weekend to clear a foot of snow from my 650' driveway. It worked great but one question I have is that the manual says to operate the blower in "float mode" and I can't find any instructions regarding the joystick in the manual. Does anyone now how to set float mode? I assume this to mean there is no downward hydraulic pressure on the blower, just floating on the surface of the driveway?

I am surprised this isn't covered in your owners manual. Is this a front mounted unit? If so, it seems to me, it you have it mounted on your FEL, float position would be with the joy stick pushed fully forward. You can feel it when it goes into float position. Your tires will momentarily rise up and sink down.

Like AB said, you can feel the stick "Pop" into the float position if you push it all the way up/forward. There's a rough diagram on the control stick box that tries to show this. Took me a little getting used to but once i dialed it in I can engage float before the bucket even hits the ground.

I can understand you struggling to find it. To this day I still cant seem to get my loader to "fast dump". I know it's to the right, similar to the float.... I've been able to do it once or twice. But it's real finicky about it.

Mine is rather distinct when I pop it in float, it feels like a clunk if that is a fair description. I sometimes will actually take mild pressure off the front wheels if the snow is packed hard to get the tough stuff off the pavement, but almost always I operate in float.

Thanks. Yeah the joystick isn't in the manual at all really, but when I had the blower installed it came with its own manual and it mentions using float position which made me start researching it. I'm glad I found this forum as I have a lot to learn and the manuals can't teach experience.

IDK what the operator's side of your joystick-mounting assembly looks like, but there is a sticker on the operator's side of the box on my 3016 Front End Loader (FEL) control lever; also, I got a separate manual for the FEL when I bought my tractor.

Both have depictions on how the lever works; that float feature on the FEL is common on several brands of tractors but none the less priceless!

Yep you're exactly right it was in the FEL manual. I guess I kind of skimmed over it the first time LOL. It is absolutely a MUST flor blowing snow and I the 2nd storm took half the time that the first one did. Of course I had lots to learn other than float position (like what exactly was the shape of my driveway before it snowed....?).

I notice the stick kind of pops down out of float when I hit a bump. Is it still in float after this happens or do I need to find a way to lock it up there? Bungee? There is a clip on the joystick referred to as a joystick lock in the FEL manual, but I don't see how it could be used for this purpose. Anyone know?

Glad you sorted out the float position.
Do you have any pictures of the mounting/lifting for your snowblower?
I am going to build a snow plow for my 3616 and am trying to find some pictures. The web has not yielded shots of what I and looking for. We do not get enough snow here for our local dealer to bring in snow blowers so they are no help.
Thanks Cam
