Well..... if you should ever move to Florida, bring your SS card for the RMV to see,...... if you plan to get your FL. drivers license renewed.
If you have lost your card, you will need to get a replacement, before a drivers license will be issued/renewed.

Not a problem. My original SS card, issued back in 1959 still looks like new. I have never carried it with me.

By the way, printed right on it: "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES".

Do you suppose Florida would still accept it?

Earlier I mentioned when I worked for Social Security we never asked to see an actual card. The stuff about banks and credit unions is for real though. Some anti-terrorist legislation - the Patriot Act I believe - has a provision that new accounts must show adequate identification such as a drivers license, SS card or taxpayer identification number, to open an account. I don't know the full reasoning behind that.
Several years ago I was co-signing for a loan in a southern state full of Jim-Bobs and Don-Eds and was told I had to have at least a middle initial to process the loan. I don't have a middle name but do have a regular made up one for such times.
