Looking for a little help in my 1st tractor purchase. I have about 350 acres of which roughly 60 is fields. I mainly want the tractor to put food plots in for about 20 acres eventually, with the remainder I plan on cutting with a brush hog. As for the implements I expect to be using are disc, tiller, brush hog, forks, grapple, and post hole digger on the machine. So here is what I致e narrowed it down to so but I am open for any input or suggestions anyone has.

1) Massey Ferguson 1760m with loader. This is a Power shuttle with a standard cab, AC/Heat, Radio, 1 set of rear remotes, Loaded Tires R1 or R4 my choice and loaded. The dealer is also going to run 3rd function so I can run the grapple. The machine as no regen and no dpf which I think is a plus. As for dealer support he has a good reputation as a friend of mine has purchased a 1750m from them that he loves. As for the price he is at 39,500 cash price, or I could go with the Hydrostat with the deluxe cab for 41,900 cash price.

2) Mahindra 6065PST with loader and cab, 2 sets of rear remotes, loaded IND tires. I can add the 3rd function but at a $. Also, this machine has no regen or dpf. This is obviously a bigger tractor and much heavier weight but I am not sure about the Mahindra brand as I致e read some good reviews and bad ones as expected with anything in life. The dealer has been around for a while and is about 20min from me. He is at 39,000 cash price.

Honestly I am unsure which way to go because it is my 1st tractor and I want to make the right choice and not have any regrets. The Mahindra seems like a good deal but I worry about the resale value as I致e heard they tend not to hold their value, where it seems that Massey痴 do. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a nice chunk of property you have there. As you already pointed out, that Mahindra is a much bigger machine. If you are going to be pulling a disc, you are better off with the power shuttle... And for that amount of property I would probably go with the bigger machine. For that price though, I would also look at an LS XU6168 CPS (cab power shuttle). That of course is assuming that you have an LS dealer near you.

I have had a couple Massey compact machines similar to the 1760 you are looking at, my current machine is a 1652 HST cab. It's an awesome machine, I have over 1000 hours now and they've all been trouble-free. But again, for the amount of property you will be maintaining and the type of work you will be doing, personally I would go with the larger machine with power shuttle.

I have also owned a couple LS machines and they have been good as well. I think that 6168 CPS is an excellent value that would fit your needs perfectly.

Good luck

TSO- Thank you for the quick reply I appreciate it. The nearest LS Dealer is roughly an hour and half away and havnt thought to check them out as the others are about 20-30 for each. Yes, its a nice piece a property and I do have alot of hardwoods on it which also has factored into the decision between the 2 because of the cab height. The cab height on the 1760m is roughly 94in where as the mahindra 6065 is about 115in with a much larger wheel base, so there is quite some difference if I needed to get in the woods with that bigger machine, that last thing I want is to be busting windows. Also, I forgot to mention I had come across a 2017 MF1759 power shuttle with cab that has 66hours on it for 30k. The issue I felt with that machine was that it has Regen and DPF and im not sure I want to possibly have to deal with that done the line, but I sure did like the price and have gone back and forth on it. I have decided that whichever machine I decide to go with I will be going with a power shuttle.

I bought my 1st tractor, and only, tractor a couple of years ago. I went into process open minded and without color bias which, in my mind, allowed me to select the best tractor for my needs simply based on dealer, tractor specs, and price. I talked to all the dealers in my area (Kubota, Kioti, JD, Mahindra, and LS) and tested most of the tractors I was interested in. I ended up with a Mahindra after my purchasing process because it was the best choice for me because of all the reasons I mentioned above. I did not make resale or part availability a part of my decision. I wasn't buying a tractor to sell and I had confidence (multiple dealers within a 90 min drive) that if I had a problem with my tractor, which I have, that it'd get fixed, it did.

Bottom line, buy the tractor that you're most comfortable. Once you take everything into account, what brand you pick will be the best brand for you regardless of color.
