Greetings from Alabama, and by the way...Roll Tide! Hoping for a threepeat this year!

I'm retiring at the end of this year and I just bought 54 acres with a small house that should eliminate any "too much time on my hands" problem. The property is divided into 5 fenced pastures and has not been cut for a number of years. Mostly I have good (but very tall) grass. There is a lot of brush but nothing really big. In some areas the brush has grown up to 10 feet or so.

My first goal is to bushog the entire place. I'm hoping to find someone to do it in return for the hay (lots of good hay), but I am starting to shop for a tractor so I can handle that for myself as well as work on some construction projects.

One of my brothers in law owns a John Deere 5205 MFWD and another owns a Massey Ferguson 50hp 2wd utility tractor (not sure of model). The BIL with the 2wd tractor says he wished he had bought 4wd, so I'm definitely going that route. Based on my conversations with them I'm pretty sure I need something in the 45-55 hp range. Considering Massey Ferguson, Kubota and JD.

I just realized my typo.. I put ReactorNet instead of TractorByNet.  I'm about twenty miles north of Nashville.

:welcome: I sometimes wear a dust mask when the pollen is high or dust is noticeable in the air. Just one of those white disposable ones. It can really help prevent a sinus headache.

Read on my friend, TBN helped me a lot and still does. I was **** bent on buying as much American made as possible and traded in a Massey Ferguson 245D (US made) for a John Deere 5075M MFWD (US Made mostly). I had a loader on the MF245, but it too was 2 wheel drive. One of the main reasons for giving it up. Darn good tractor however.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!
