Hey, just joined up, looking forward to learning more about my tractor.
I've got a MF 471, 8 speed tranny with shuttle shift, 4 wheel drive, although I guess it's called something else because it's not articulated, with a 1055 loader. I don't farm, but have 40 acres at the end of a 2 1/2 mile long private road. I am the only person living on that road with a tractor, so I end up doing all the road work.
Just got this tractor a few months ago, so I'm still learning about it's operation. I use a 7 foot blade to grade the roads, although I could use a bigger one if I could afford it.
I'm 70 years old, married for 48 years, spent about 20 years in construction, then went to college and got a degree and became the high school science department at our local school and taught for 20 years.
Originally from Chicago, lived in Champaign-Urbana for 10 years, moved to Lake of the Ozarks in 1979 and built my house. I am an amateur astronomer with a small observatory nearby, I play finger style acoustic guitar (ragtime and blues), and I am in the process of a frame off restoration of a 1953 Chevy one ton pick up truck. In my spare time I sleep!
Hoping to get advice and suggestions from more experienced folks here.
