Hi all,

So im from Southern Tassie in Australia and finally bought my first bit of land arround 50 acres, i dont have a tractor as of yet so i shall be doing my research on what direction would be the way to go.
2 things i know is i need atleast 35hp-45hp with a 4in1 FEL for the amount of work that needs to be done on the property and these import tractors come to mind as they are within my price range but i dont know much about them. I have spent many years operating big name tractors which are out of my price range and its hard to find a second hand tractor with a 4in1 FEL let alone any second hand tractor in Tassie so i will be buying from the Main Land and be scouring the forums on as much info as i can.

With that said happy days and hopefully catch ya's in the threads

Cheers. J.C

Hiya JC

Welcome from Central West, NSW. I used to do a fair bit of caving is Tassie.
Shop around for tractors from Victorian distributors but if you can find a tassie one that would be better. Check here for advice before you buy - there are some happy buyers here and some very unhappy ones that can fill you in on who not to buy from.
You will find this forum really helpful. So much info is here.

Cheers for the welcome guys.

yea Mike im currently looking for distributors in the Victoria area especially from these import mobs. so many choices, different costs, different packages and "to good to be true" deals.. i have noted allot of unhappy posts towards one tractor mob that i was looking at and actually flew down to Melbourne to visit there depot to check out first hand (rocked up un-announced)...was impressed at first hand, then was shown a few of the customers tractors that were in the driveway there for a service. one wouldn't start, had a flat battery and the other had a really rough idle and smokey.had me questioning. the warranty was sketchy as well, parts only with restriction on what was and wasn't covered.there were a few other things i noticed that didn't look right at all... Service was good face to face but as noted from some other posts the after service dropped...researching about this tractor actually lead me to this forum to start with so here i am and now know (as much as a good deal looks) and all the negative response and stories i will be looking elsewhere. the search continues!!!

Hi JC

Welcome to TBN, it's a great place to learn new tricks. In all honesty mate I'd be giving Gafney Machinery a go the New Holland boomers are a good solid unit and you will be quite surprised on prices they are pretty competitive , there are a lot of stories about the cheap Chinese units and you only have to look at how many low hour units are on the market here. Better spending a bit more upfront than spending less and having something that won't work.
But at the same time is rather buy a 50 year old fergie than a cheap Chinese one too.

Have fun shopping mate

Dave
