Howdy to all tractor lovers,,,,,I recently purchased an older Massey Ferguson 1951 TO20 according to the SN that was decoded for me. This one had been sitting in a barn for about 12 years after it threw # 4 rod cap thru the driver's side block. The fellar tore it down and decided it was not worth fixin and he parked it in the barn. His Granddaughter had it headed to the scrap yard when I bought it from her. Don't ask how much,,,,lol. The Granddaughter and her BF brought me the cylinder head, rocker arm assy, push rods, oil pan, intake air filter assy, and a coffee can of nuts and bolts. What they have not been able to locate is the Intake/Exhaust manifold and the carburator and governor and the radiator. The tractor overall is very clean and was obviously taken care of until the throttle hung wide open and the old man could not get it unstuck and threw the rod cap.
I took the engine out today to get it on a work table to weld up the window as well as pull it down and do a through clean out and put new rings and bearings if need be. The #4 piston and the liner have a small chunk broke out and will prolly require replacement. I can see this engine has replaceable liners,,,so that is good. The #4 liner mikes out to 3.300 at top, mid, and btm.. Piston is flattop. There is a metal tag on the driver side of the block buy no numbers are readable. There is a casting number on driver side of block= Z120A600.
The tin looks to be in better than average condition and only has one small dent in the bottom of the grill,,,,,nuttin a brick and claw hammer can't fix. The rears are "passable" for now but both fronts are needing replacement so that has to be done soon.
When I get the engine tore down and measured out,,I will prolly start bugging some members here for help in locating the parts I'm gonna be needing.
I'm looking forward to hearing this little jewel run again as I promised the GD I would send her a video for her GrandPa,,,,,,
Thanks for letting me tell my story.
