Bolens/Iseki G154
Hello - I'm mostly posting this so everyone can see I'm not a scammer or bot. I own a 1960 Farmall Cub with a fairly rare Wagner loader. The Cub is cool, simple, easy to figure out, and has a ton of parts availability. Traction limits, however, limits its ability to move snow around, so I went and bought a Bolens/Iseki G154 - year unknown. It's a small diesel 4x4 thing with a loader. I can't find a ton of information on it (unlike the Cub), but I found the Iseki forum here. I look forward to learning more, and thanks for having me.

Thank you for the welcome. The Cub never ran out of power - just traction. I had factory 100 lb. weights (per wheel) mounted in the rear. I have 25 lb. weights fot the front but never mounted them. You are correct, at least according to the tractor data site (can't list the URL without three posts to my name). The Cub weighs 1477 lbs. while the Bolens weighs in at 1117 lbs. I never tried chains on the Cub and they might have made a big difference. I had some money burning a hole in my pocket and found the Bolens at a decent price. The Bolens is 15 hp and I can't find a hp rating for the Cub. There is no contest on traction, however. The Bolens can run circles around the Cub (without being weighted at all) with its four wheel drive and locking rear diff. The Cub is fine on packed snow but that's it. Don't get me wrong; I love the Cub with its incredible simplicity, serviceability, and very solid construction. I also love old tractors and will surely miss the Cub once I sell it. The Cub has no rear lift of any kind, and I was planning on fabricating a mount for multiple cylinder blocks on the drawbar. Never got there, though. The biggest selling feature for the Bolens, besides its four wheel drive, is the three point hitch and useable PTO. I look forward to taking advantage of them in the spring.

Thanks. I think it's my new haircut. Regarding NE winters, I'm afraid I can only justify owning a tractor for snow removal. Even then, I could live without one. I just like old stuff, especially tractors, and the Bolens is remarkably new for me. I've resurrected an Allis Chalmers B and the aforementioned Cub from the dead, but really can't justify owning MORE than one when it's hard to justify just one. I hope to use the Bolens next summer to drag some dead trees away and clear some land, along with building a bucket attachment to extend it's reach to put some (small) trusses into place for a new barn/outbuilding.

Yeah, all of the Bolens 1117lbs are being put to use with the 4wd. It’d be interesting to know how much of the Cubs 1477lbs + weights is on the rear.

Keep the old Cub!
You will be sorry later if you sell it.
Buy a set of chains!
