Ah, OK, I miss understood.

If your sure all retainers are removed, a slight tap to see just how stuck it is might be in order. Careful,,, using to much hammer on a job like this could really mess things up.

Is it real tight ?, can you spin it on the shaft ?

Hole in the center so you could use a puller ?

I am going to give it sharp tap with a hammer tommorow and see if i can get any movement on it or try the puller if i have one to fit, if not might just drop it off at the dealer !! Just prefer to try these jobs myself coz it can be quicker sometimes not to mention less expensive . I will let you know how i get on and thanks for taking the time to reply to my post much obliged !!

There is actually a tool for doing this. It's really just a glorified 'c' clamp. You can accomplish the same thing with a large 'c' clamp and a couple of sockets or better yet a press. You'll need one sleeve/ socket large enough for the bearing cup to slide into. You'll need a second one, slightly smaller than the diameter of the bearing. Put the small one on one bearing cup and the larger one outside of the opposite cup and tighten the 'c' clamp.

Are you trying to remove the ujoint from the tractor PTO shaft, or you trying to remove it from the mower gear box shaft?

A mounted vise is a wonderful tool for this. More common than a press too! :D

G'day i think what the OP is trying to do is remove the shaft from the joint itself not the bearing, if this is the case we usually have to put them in the shop press ( 100 ton) to remove or if the shaft is long enough we cut them off at the back of the assy and press into the new assy. I know sometimes that we have been able to hit them off but this only happens once in a blue moon. Good luck with it all.

Mine came off with a few solid smacks with a chunk of hardwood and a 5 lb hammer. The Eurocardan ones are a nice sliding fit in the yoke. If there's any chance it bent the shaft at all, you're better to replace both at the same time.

You mentioned a spring pin to retain it, sounds like mine was. I had to stake the metal around the pin to keep it in place afterwards, no problems since then.
