Thank you all for the kind welcomes and the advice. It answers some of my questions. The biggest questions are what implements I should get for my major tasks of clearing areas of brush (blackberry bramble and large areas of 2-3 inch trees) and moving rocks.
It seems all tractors around here are sold with backhoe and front end loader.
Should I necessarily get all my implements from the dealer, or can most brand name tractors be fitted out by third parties?

Any more tips to point me in the right direction would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'll start reading and trying to figure out whether I need a grapple, a backhoe with a thumb, or some other implements I haven't heard of yet.

Farther down the line I could see doing snow removal too, but for now the main jobs are clearing brush and moving rocks. Thanks again for the warm welcome!

I'll try to get my work done before the glacier returns with more rocks.

Don't automatically assume you need a backhoe... Especially small ones have problems will our rock.

Start with a grapple, it does almost everything you want to do. Backhoes are key for digging holes, you can always rent one or a mini excavator for a specific job.
