You may already have this, but here is a link to Tractor Data, and some info on the Case 530 AG model. Not all that much, but it does have the serial numbers, and year, at the bottom left.

TractorData.com J.I. Case 530 tractor information

Here is a link for the 530CK, backhoe & loader, that may come in handy for you. I actually ran across it by accident, when looking for items for my 310B. There are downloadable manuals in PDF files ( Adobe Reader, and there are free downloads for Adobe Reader)

Also cross reference numbers for filters etc. General specs., repair part numbers for cylinders, etc. I didn't look into it all that much, as it didn't refer to what I had, but did save it to my favorites, just in case someone needed some info on one.

Case 530CK - Tractor Specs

Hope this will answer some of your questions..

A buddy of mine is an aircraft Tech. He told me it is a common repair practice on aircraft hydraulic lines, to clean up the line much like you are going to do, then wrap with a fine soft wire, like mechanics tie wire, then silver solder them, all the way around. Those systems have from 3,000 to 5,000 psi. Just be sure to wrap the wire, maybe 1/2" to 3/4" either side of the leak.

I had all the stuff to try it on a Case 530 diesel, with a leaky injector line, but traded it before I got the chance.

Soooo..., know anyone who can silver solder..??

Will bookmark those for another day when I have free time, thank you!

According to the specs I read online elsewhere, 2000psi is the max for my tractor.

I opted for the sanitary weld, took 3 tries to get rid of any hair laine that looked like it could leak, then bench tested, no bubbles. Though if it leaks, I'll try that method you mentioned, I just honestly don't have materials to silver solder even though I have access to a tig  and I kinda know how to use it!

I do believe my father can silver solder, if I remember correctly, he did silver soldering for blades in the mill.

DJ54, thanks to you I have a good RH spindle on the tractor now , the one on it had been repaired half assedly, the inner wheel bearing had 1/16" slop between it and the shaft.

My latest issue now turns to hydraulics. The bucket will not tilt up, nor hold its position in the air, prefers to dangle

I'm assuming the issue is at the small cylinder (master?) since it will tilt down and lift the tractor.

Broke the threaded end off the LH bucket cylinder at the piston. I have not found any numbers between the AG and CK tractors to find out if these cylinders were the same to make my hunt easier for parts, I'd hate to farm this one... I mean I could throw it in the lathe at work and bore it, and tap it and wing it.

Glad to hear the spindle worked out for you..! Last I read, I thought you were kinda' disappointed in the part you received... Felt kinda' bad about it...

There were two more on epay a couple weeks later, both for around $40.00, don't even think they got a bid. Was going to email it to you, but decided otherwise, since I thought that one was maybe not what you expected...

I believe you'll have to check for your cylinder. by looking for the loader model. I believe you said the hoe was a 31, so took for granted the loader is a Mod. 31 also. I went to Case Construction, and looked up the 31. It had two different types of cylinders. One with 4 rods, holding the end caps on. And one tubular style, with a gland nut in the end.

I enlarged your photo, at it looked to me that one has the rods, holding the endcaps. You'll have to look on the endcaps, but what I got from the Case site, the L.H. cyl. # is D20411.

The loader on my 310B was a 31 also, and had the rods holding the endcaps. There should be some out there in some bone yards somewhere.

Now that you broke the cylinder, I'm thinking it may be more likely to be in the control valve, or thereabouts. If it pressurizes that cylinder enough to raise the front end, I'd say there is nothing wrong with the piston or seals. Just not getting pressure to feed the other end.

I reckon' you could always try the lever with the line unhooked carefully, and see what happens, and see if any fluid comes out. There could be a piece of the rubber line, from the internal side plugging a port.

Apparently you got the transmission to shift properly..??

I kinda' lost track of this thread, since you hadn't posted anything for a while... Wish I'd have looked sooner...

I got the dump cyl to work, I was in a hurry and didn't look closely, it was a 3/8 fine thread grade 5 bolt. Pulled through a micky mouse looking thrust washer ( I made new ones for both sides from stainless 1.5" shaft) and split the head off the bolt. Not a big deal apparantly, so that is working well as long as I try to keep the front end from hitting solid rock. I also used grade 8 bolt this time. Hopefully thats not a bad idea.

I continue to check ebay, parts are parts! If you spot one that looks like it may be the LH let me know, it has holes bored in the upper and lower section of the knuckle for steering linkage. I would still like to have a good one on hand just in case. I found out the bearing #'s for the knuckle is a T101, ordered two of those to now maybe I can man handle the steering.

Shifting- No I haven't gotten froggy and pulled that cover. I suppose I cant get it any worse than the last guy.

I do have a new concern, the one cylinder I have opened up and repaired quickly, had gouges inside the bore. Is this just DOM tubing they use?

Also, thanks for the pointer on where to look for numbers on the cylinders, I had seen part of a number on the bore itself, but wasn't able to read it.

I thought I kept those spindles saved on ebay, in my watch list. Must have deleted them a while back. I still have the saved search for 300 parts, so if they repost, I'll give you a shout. The bad thing about these, the guy nipped the axle off, about 3" from them, and you got the axle ends too. Not biggy I guess, just extra shipping weight.

You may get answers on the cylinder tube, up in the hydraulics thread. Maybe someone that works in a hydraulics shop, hangs out there...

Hm. Nipped the axle ends, mine is split on the bottom from having no bearing, allowing the shaft to rock. Doesn't sound all bad :p

I'll have to find the hydraulics thread from the sound of it
