Mahindra 3540
I just sold my 1920 series Ford and 955 JD in order to buy a new 3540 Mahindra with loader and 50B backhoe that was delivered this past Monday.I got to put maybe an hour on the clock before parking it in my shop for the night.Next morning I go out to look it over and found a puddle of oil about the size of a dinner plate under the loader control valve.I found the leak to be a 30mm gland nut that attaches to a banjo fitting that attaches to a distribution block that supplys oil to the loader control valve. There was no way to check the nut for tightness without having a 30mm crows foot and I din't have one so I call the dealer that is 55 miles away to get a fix.Service manager says he is short a man and it would be Wed. before he could send a mechanic to fix it and said that the service call would not cost me since they didn't catch the leak on pre delivery inspection but said that any future service calls would cost me because Mahindra does not pay dealers for service calls and I would have to bring it to the shop for any future warranty work.I really wanted to run the tractor so I head off to my local Napa store to buy a 30mm crows foot only to find they don't have one so I buy the cheapest 30mm combo wrench they have and bend the open end with torch and vice.I torqued the nut a good half turn and that fixed the leak so I call my new friend service manager and tell him to cancel the service call.He thanks me for doing the fix myself and said he owed me a free service call if ever need be and was sorry that I had to buy and ruin a good wrench to get it done.I really do like my new tractor and this forum so all is good!

Welcome to the forum, I'm new here also. My new 2555 was delivered on Tuesday and I have about 1 hour of seat time. I hope I don't find any puddles under mine when I go to use it this weekend.

Congrats on the new tractor!!! You will love it. I own the older version, the 4035.

Now i had a warranty issue with my tractor, after owning it for a year. The steering wheel tilt damper was bent. Called up the dealer, they came out and fixed it free of charge. The service guy even asked if there was anything else I needed him to look at. He also took the time to show me a few maintenance related things with the tractor.

I just find it odd that the dealer told you that you have to bring the tractor to him for warranty stuff? Maybe its just me, but you just spent how much money with him?

A lot and yes the dealer told me that Mahindra will pay for the first service call because they figure some new tractors leaving the dealership will have an issue from time to time and will pay the dealer to send a mechanic to the tractor to resolve the issue but after that the owner has to pay a trip charge or bring it to the dealer for warranty work.I don't know if this is a nation wide Mahindra rule or just my dealers policy and if any of you know any different please let me know. Thanks

First 90 days.. but when a shop is stacked with people that brought their tractor in their self its hard to get a runner out in a timely manner.

Congrats on the new wheel, I have the older version as well. Little smaller chassis. Great that you fixed it yourself. Thats the best way. Some guys either don't have the ability or don't feel they should have to touch it themselves. Glad to see you could put her back in action!
