Tractor
Massey Ferguson 1020
I know nearly nothing about tractors, but recently purchased a Massey Ferguson 1020 manual 4wd. I bought it to mow our old sugar cane land. It started making clunking-catching noises in the front axel so we took one side apart and there were some bad bearings and seals. Our local dealer tried to see availability of parts and some were unavailable. Are we up a creek?? He tried agcopartsbook.com. The tractor is around 1994 vintage.
Any ideas on where to find these not so very old parts??
Thanks

Welcome. Get the numbers off the side of the bearings and the side of the seals. Take your old parts with you and go to your local bearing house (like Maguire bearing) or in some cases your auto parts store (you will want a NAPA or independent) and they can probably get you something that will work. Gears or castings are another issue. You will need to search tractor wrecking yards. If you need a place to start try Farmland Tractor in Tangent, Or. There are people who can take your broken castings a make a new one using the old one as a pattern. Good luck.

Thanks I will check the old bearings and do as you suggest. My son works at o'reillys auto parts and we have a Maguire in town as well. This is encouraging. We buggered up the king pin seal getting at the king pin thrust bearing assembly. I think we can get the latter but the former will be tougher to find.
thanks for your help and we will check out farmland tractor. This is the first time we have ever worked on a tractor.
cheers

Welcome to the forum. Do you have the part numbers. Someone might be able to cross reference them.

The King pin seal for this tractor will be the hardest to find. It's part number is 3281354M2. If anyone knows of a cross referenced part I would be greatly appreciative.
thanks

Still cannot find the front axel oil seal. it's number is NOK AE8190E. The only place so far I have located anything close is in China for a Hinomoto C 144 tractor. The Massey Ferguson part number is 3281354M2. The bearings i am pretty sure i can find.
any other suggestions
thanks
