Hi,

I just bought a new to me Shibaura SD1840 tractor to help out around our property. I have a couple of questions about safety, wheel spacers/adapters and general servicing of the tractor

Thx, Stu

Hi. Welcome. I am sure the other Shibaura owners can help answer your questions.
Congratulation on the new machine.

Hi,

The rear wheel track seem quite narrow, I'm concerned about the safety on my hilly property. I've purchased a ROPS through the NY state program, and considering adding wheel spacers. My question is, I've measured the hub and it looks like a 5.75dia 5 lug configuration, does anyone know if this is the same as a ford (or other tractor)? Where could I purchase a 3in wide spacer?

Also, the fenders on this tractor are quite dented and will take a lot of work to repair. Does anyone know where I could source replacements? Do Ford 1500 tractor fenders fit (I read somewhere the Ford 1500 tractor is similar to the Shibaura SD1840)

Thx, stu

Here's one place that sells wheel spacers. Very popular place many members buy spacers from. The page shows how to measure your bolt pattern.

Wheel Repairs | Motorsport Tech

Are your wheels fixed or do they have adjustable centers? If your wheel centers are bolted to the wheels they are adjustable and you may be able to change the offset for wider width. I looked on tractordata.com and the pic of your 1840 looks to have adjustable wheel spacing.

Bro-Tek is another spacer distributor.

Not sure about the fenders but I'm sure if they are not exact they could probably be adapted to fit.

We have a Shibaura SD 1643 and after having empty tires I finally loaded them, and it is a whole new world. You might think about loading the tires before buying spacers. Our property is pretty hilly and before loading the tires it was pretty scary on any uneven ground, but now it is much more stable, plus it uses the power a lot better.
