Hello Everyone,

I have been reading posts and just looking around in general for a while now, I finally joined up about a month ago.

I really like this site. There is a wealth of information and and many great minds here. I have seen many projects that were very interesting and useful, and a huge number of ideas that were very good. Some of these projects and ideas I hope to remember, hopefully being able to use this information later.

The "Helping Hand" spirit of the people on this site is nothing short of amazing. It's like one large family working together.

I look foward to talking to some of these people, getting answers to occasional questions, and possibly helping someone with a problem one day.

Thanks for letting me be a part of this great network.

Mike

Welcome Mike!

What's your favorite color? :D (As an owner / as a mechanic)

What's your least favorite color?

As much as we love helping each other, it's fun to hear each other's perspectives and by your profile, it looks like you'd have a lot of experience with tractors.

When I was young (very young), I worked for a Volvo service department and really appreciated how well they were engineered (from a mechanics perspective), and also recall some crazy things my buddies had to do on some other brands. (What were those engineers thinking? Pull a bumper to change the tail lights. Lift an engine off the mounts to get access to the plugs.)

Thanks for the welcome, fellows.

I think I'm going to like it here. I like all of the forums, but I think I like the "Build-it Yourself" forum the best and then the "Parts/Repairs" comes in second. I have seen several projects/threads that have stirred my interest. Two in particular are the "DIY Homebuilt Compact Tractor" by GT2, and "Dump Trailer" by Iplayfarmer.

I put 15 years under my belt at a Blue Oval (Ford - Pre New Holland) dealership that was about 30 miles from where I live. I opened my own shop about 4 years before I left the dealership. I ran my shop full time for about 9 more years until I figured out that my wife and I needed health insurance, so I went to work for a local municipality in the natural gas department. They get 40 hours a week, my wife and shop get the rest.

As far as favorite color, I prefer to work on blue (mostly because of the training we took at the dealership), but i will work on any of them. For owning, several companies out there make good tractors. Right now I own a green one (JD 750) and a red one (MF 35).

My most disliked color - Russian Red (Belarus). I have the worst time getting parts for them.

For the engineering goof-ups, we might should start a new thread for that one.

Fellows, thanks again for the welcome. I think I've rambled enough. I think I need to go hide in my shop for a while. :D

Have a great day,
Mike

Belarus owners: Don't bother contacting Mike

Everyone else: Mike will be one of our new buddies. He has his own tractor repair shop. We can pick his brain for knowledge.
