Kubota RTV500
Hi everyone.

New member with a new Kubota RTV-500 with a plow blade. Pretty much, the only thing I will be using my tractor for is snow plowing and the occasional pulling a vehicle out of a ditch (which I did only four days after the RTV-500 arrived).

I've been plowing snow in the neighborhood for 15 years, up until now with a Kubota TG1860G with a blade. I decided to upgrade to the RTV-500 because I was tired of the TG1860G with one drive wheel getting overmatched by large snowfalls. The TG1860G maxxed out at about 10 inches of very light snow, and even that was dicey. And I was tired of being out there in the elements...the RTV-500 is going to be fully enclosed for the winter, and I got the optional heater installed. :)

Looking forward to benefiting from the experience of other people who plow out the neighborhood with tractors and ATVs, and offering advice whenever I can.

To the TBN forum Bill. We are glad that you joined.

How long of a driveway are you plowing?

It may push 10" of very dry snow but if it's 4-6" of wet snow it will barely make it. Have had mine for 8 years now and it's no powerhouse by any stretch. I rarely use it when snow is over 6-8 inches. It will push it in low range but that's too slow for me. Good luck

My driveway is 1000' of gravel, straight down. There are other driveways I plow as well...some gravel, some asphalt, some both.

As for it not being a powerhouse, I knew that going in. Really, ANYTHING is an upgrade from the TG1860G that I had pushing snow. Even that would handle 10" of dry snow, and that only had one drive wheel. So, given how infrequently I'll use it, and the fact that I'm fine with the speed in low gear, I think it will do the job for me and it was the best value for the money in my situation. With it being enclosed, I'm going to be a lot more willing to plow in the dark now for that every-three-years-or-so occurrence where I have to take a pass during the storm to stay ahead of it.
