NH T4.75 Powerstar
Does the "Lemon Law" apply to tractors because I am beginning to think that I bought my husband a new lemon instead of a tractor???

Welcome to TBN........................

What kind of problems is he having with the T4.75 that makes you think its a lemon? If new it should have a warranty.

This time, the oil pressure light will not go off(stays on), I say this time because we bought it new in 2013 and it is just one problem after another not to mention the yearly maintenance tune-up done by the dealer was over $400 and we have to keep those up for the warranty. Have you heard of this problem? He is trying to get his hay up and now the dealer says they can't get to it for a week and a half. The hay is on the ground tedded and should be raked and baled by tomorrow and no tractor, so he will have to borrow an old tractor from the neighbor which bites because its a Massey and that's what we traded in for this NH an old Massey and another old Ford for this one that seems to be a Lemon - this tractor makes it hard to stay loyal to Ford....

There are a few members here that had the same problem with not only NH but other brand tractors too. Most were fixed by replacing the oil pressure sending unit which had failed or was starting to fail. A few others found the wire from the sending unit was near metal and the insulation had worn off from vibration causing the wire to short to ground lighting the light.

The first thing to check would be the engine for proper oil level. Next would be trace the wiring back from the sender to make sure nothing is chafed and no bare spots shorting to ground. If that's OK then the sending unit will need to be removed and a pressure gauge installed. Restart the engine to check for proper pressure. If pressure is OK the sender is bad and needs to be replaced. As you have found out this is a busy time of year for dealer service.

Ford was sold to Fiat back around 1990 and the Ford name has been phased out. CNH builds most of the NH tractors now with some of the smaller Boomer series being built by LSmtron.

Thanks for the info George, He found the wire from the unit was crimped, while he was fixing that he decided to put a new fuel filter on because he had bled some water out and now the tractor is surging and won't stay idled unless he gives it juice otherwise it just shuts down.

He may need to bleed it some more. Not familiar with the procedure on your T4.75 but the owners manual should have the proper procedure for doing so. Glad he found the oil light problem.

Sorry to hear your having problems. After a early factory defect. I've had my tractor about 10 months with 400 hrs of use with no problems. Hope you get everything straightened out.
