New Member with Spitin Super A

Hello Guys,
Im new to this community but not to the farm world. My dad decided he wanted a Farmall Super A . He always gets what he wants. So its spitin and sputtering .Seems like no power . Im cleaning the carb, and fuel lines. Can somebody share something about the air cleaner oil filter and air filter pan? Sorry I forgot no tractor questions on first post.

Now what do you need to know about the air filter?
Other than it is a clump of steel wool inside a bird cage that sits suspended over top of an open can of oil. Fill the oil to the level line on the can and put it back in place. A very cheap and effective air filter if ever there was one.

Thanks for responding in Canada and Wis.
I will try that in the morning. Also noticed oil dripping from air intake on top of hood. Any ideas?

That also has steel wool in it. Just wash it with varsol and let it dry and reinstall.
I forgot to mention with the air cleaner to wash the steel wool filled birdcage in varsol.
The air intake on the top of the hood in the center is the ventilation system for the valve cover and oil fill.
The taller one on the side of the hood is air intake for the carb.
Farmall came out with a new vented fuel cap a few years ago.
I trust you know how to check the oil on this one? There is no dipstick. Just two petcocks on the left side of the oil pan. The top one is the full mark and the lower one is the add 1 Quart. If oil doesn't run out of the lower one, leave it open and add oil until; it does flow out. You will be down 1 quart then.
