New member first 4x4 tractor, new Mahindra EMAX 22. I live In Big Bear Lake, San Bernardino Nat. Forest just east of LA and up 7,000'. We've been in a severe drought the last 5 to 6 years. La Niña and El Niño are and were a farce. It can snow here and has in all 12 months of the year. 2 to 3 foot snows are quite common that's why we have two downhill ski mountains about 1.5 miles from my house.
I'm a retired Petroleum and Environmental Microbiologist married 51 years. Lived in Iowa, east Lansing, Traverse City, Houston, Bakersfield and now Big Bear. Worked in MI, TX, OK, LA, CA, AL, Venezuela, Egypt, Kenai offshore and Prudoe Bay on the North Slope AK. we need season and we need snow. Love to camp at the Forest Service Campgrounds at the High Alpine Lakes.
Have some physical limitations, 8 surgically fused vertebrae. Considered to be disabled, primarily unresolved mental issues, used to ride a big V Twin, cross country 3X with a disabled plate. Little bit accident prone but as you get older, 74 things hurt more and take longer to heal. So the Ariens Pro blower is great but ... man it hurts afterwards. The Deere LT 160 is slowly dying. It has a blade and blower but the Deere can't push it up a slope. Mountains have slopes.
So now I would rather ride, move my right arm on a hydraulic control stick and avoid injury and pain while living in a place that is just drop dead gorgeous, 300 days of sun a year, moderate temperatures - altitude is everything, 1 hour from beaches, two from San Diego, Two from LAX, 3 from Vegas - key factor with a lot of snow not uncommon. This storm has a 5' forcast iver 4 days.
So that's my excuse and I am sticking to it. Oh one other thing 20 million people live within a two hour drive 30 million within a three hour drive.
