Hello all, this is a great site with tons of great info! I’ve been lurking around for several weeks looking for info on the 5000 series. I just pulled the trigger on a 5234D, 2004 leftover. After talking with several dealers looks like only minor changes on the 5000 series for 2005, certainly not worth the 4.5% price increase for 2005.

I was able to get the 5234D, 60 MMM, canopy and a FEL for $12,000 out the door didn’t even have to pay sales tax since I bought in CT and I’m from MA. The machine will be delivered sometime next week. Let the fun begin!

Welcome to TBN. I think that was a great price on that tractor with the acc.

I'm sure you'll love your 5234D. I bought one back in September with bar tires and 60" MMM. I have been using a 6' King Kutter rear blade (8, 42lb suitcase weights on the front end) to move snow on my 550' driveway with a slope. It works great. I was worried about the slope but with all that weight on the front I had no traction problems at all.

I have also used a 24" dirt scoop and a 4' box scraper with success.

I had a problem with the throttle lever very slowly creeping down as I would operate the tractor. This problem showed up with about 15 hours on the tractor. The dealer fixed it and told me that Cub put out a technical bulletin on this problem. He said there was a bad washer on the throttle assembly that would allow the throttle lever to slowly slip and back down.

I believe it was the friction washer on page 13 of the parts manual. You can see a blow up of the entire dash panel and steering wheel assembly on page 12 of the parts manual indicating where the friction washer is located. It might be a good idea to have the dealer take care of this before he delivers your tractor. My dealer said it was somewhat of a pain in the rear end to replace. Another forum member who owns a Cub 5252 had this same problem. Of course it's a warranty item.

Enjoy your new Cub! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
