Got my new Midwest (Front Line) Core aerator and used it for the first time recently. Did a real nice job and seems to be built well. Put 240lbs on it and it took about 2" core. Think a need a little more weight to get a good 3-4" plug. Problem is getting the ground in the right condition, not too wet that tractor makes marks and just punches holes to too dry where it won't penetrate. Will use it again on more areas soon and adjust the weight some more.
If you are in the market for one of these, I really like this one. Each plugger can be replaced and each set spins independent of the others. Three leg stand. Built pretty tough. Did look at the woods and they do seem to be built a little better, but also about 8-900 bucks more.
I kept the top level with the ground. Anyone got any opinions on whether it is helpful to have it tiltled forward or rearward a little?

Slippy, do you mind if I ask how much it cost? Did you purchase from a local dealer or order on the internet?

Thanks,
MarkV

I purchased it local. Midwest will not sell to public. Have to go through a dealer. Cost was $1450.

Here are some pictures.

Our RC Helicopter club bought one of those about 4 years ago for $900 delivered. It has held up great and seen a lot of use, you will be happy with it for years to come!
For weights, I lined 4 milk crates with plastic, and filled them with concrete and put them on top.

I had six 60lb bags of Quickcrete in my barn that just picked up moisture over time and got hard. I used all of them and it worked fine. They are just about the right size to fit in the carrier as well. Been going to through them out, glad I didn't now.

I just called my local Land Pride dealer and was quoted $2890 for the 60" CA-25! I gotta look for a Mid West dealer in Western PA. I expected the Land Pride to be a bit more, but not double the price.

I have found that to be true about most name brand items. I still am very happy with mine at what looks to be 1/2 the cost of LP. Don't get me wrong, they make great products. If I was commercial user on a daily basis then I might think about it and compare very close the steel thickness, welds, etc., otherwise, 1/2 cost works for me.
