LS MT240HE FEL
Hi all, I just ordered a new MT240HE with a BH, rotary cutter, and a 4” chipper. I am really excited to get it.

Anyone have advice to a first time LS owner? I plan to beat back the brush on my 12 acres, do the site work for a slab for the tractor shed, improve the road (I’m keeping an eye out for a used box blade in Maine).

Any words of advice or “must do” add-ons I should consider would be appreciated.

I’ll post some pix when she arrives.

Congrats.
Look forward to lots of work ahead

Just did a small slab and used my bh for prep. Don’t know if you’ve used a bh before. Personally, I found it to be one of life’s humbling learning experiences. If not experienced, find a place to practice first.

Likely the odd man out here, but i never got the hang of the box blade on my driveway. Probably the composition, but I never wanted to resurface the larger rocks. I did find using my FEL and landscape rake quite effective at adding and dressing 3/4 base.

Work hard, but have fun.

As for add ons, you have 3 main pieces to load on rear, might want to look at dollies to facilitate.

Also, pallet forks, I’d be lost without mine.

For the box blade, get the heaviest you can find. Weight is definitely your friend. Also go with at least a 66 inch wide. It is an oddball size and can be hard to find, otherwise go with a 6 footer. With R4 tires, you will be 67 inches wide. With R1 tires you will be adjustable from 60 - 67 inches. You want the box blade to be at least as wide as your back tires, otherwise you will be fighting to properly use the BB.

All great info. I have used a BH before and I know they’re not as easy as pro excavator operators make it look! I’ve got plenty of stones on the property to pick at so I’ll have ample opportunity practice.

And great advice on the box blade width, wouldn’t have through to go wider than the tires, makes sense though.

Congrats on the new tractor. I have no advice as I'm still waiting to play my new LS too. But looking forward to figuring stuff out. Good luck!

Well the dealer just dropped it off! Pen-Bay Tractor in Clinton, Maine. Great folks to deal with. Now time to have some fun moving snow. IMG_7670.JPGIMG_7674.JPG

NICE ! Congratulations on getting a fine machine. I see you got the factory thumb. I have not seen one in person, but it looks very good. Is it sturdily built? I got a price of $330 for it from my dealer... do you think it is worth that?

While I haven’t had it pick up a rock yet, I’m very impressed with the quality! I did not want a bolt on generic and when the told me the price for the LS I didn’t think twice. Really surprised with how sturdy it is for the $300ish bucks. Only thing I noticed is the pin is a bit tight and the handle on it is rectangular (as opposed to round, you can notice it in the back of one of the photos IMG_7685.JPG) and a bit had on the hands. But that will wear in or a quick sand can take care of that. IMG_7688.JPGIMG_7687.JPGIMG_7687.JPG
