Hello everyone - first post but have been lurking for quite a while now. Great information on this site so thank you to the whole community for that.

I am looking to buy an MX5200 and wanted to see if the price I was quoted was fair. I was quoted just over $39K delivered (excluding tax) for an MX5200 setup with the following:

Loader
R4 tires loaded with RimGuard
Landpride 72" box blade
Landpride 48" 3K forks
7.5 ft Worksaver snow plow with hydraulic angle
3rd function valve for above
All assembly, testing, etc.
Delivered
I'm still debating rear remotes and/or top-n-tilt. Basically another $2200 for top-n-tilt.

A bit about my situation:
We have a camp with 127 acres in the Adirondacks I'm looking to be able to work on. I need to maintain the relatively steep driveway as well as some roads and trails. I will want to add a grapple in the future I'm sure and can see doing light logging (as in for our own use) with this machine. Our home is on a 5 acre plot where I'd have some basic driveway maintenance and other chores. I am aware I need to be careful of side slopes and don't anticipate much of that but I do have some relatively steep hills. There's 300+ ft of elevation change on the camp property. I'll have the wheels set out as far as possible.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Brad

I just bought a mx5200 gear drive with r4 tires loaded, loader, qa bucket, qa forks, rear remotes, block heater, tire chains all around, 6ft woods rc6 bushhog, coyote contractor pro 20ft trailer, rated 14k lbs with chains and binders, delivered for $33,500 from parcs in salem west virginia. Just for comparison.

I love this tractor and use it for commercial firewood and bushhogging and landscaping. Working great for that combination for me.

Be sure to ask dealer to put cold weather update kit so the intake doesnt freeze up, forcing oil through turbo, causing a run a way engine, and ruining engine. Last I knew customer had to ask for it as kubota wasnt putting it on all tractors????

Mine has been basically flawless for 40 hours and 2 regen cycles.

Good choice on the r4 tires as they do provide the widest stanct for the tractor on side hills. I too operate on steep hills a lot.

Thank you for the reply. I should have mentioned this was HST. It seems you got a much better deal than I was quoted, though I'm in the northeast and I guess they are more expensive here. This dealer is very close to my house and has a good reputation and has always been very friendly to deal with. I should try to get another local quote but would really like to stick with these guys. I'm glad to hear you really like your machine and thank you for the advice on the cold weather update. I had no idea about that.

It sounds like I should still have some room to dicker though?

Is there anyone in the northeast that can post an opinion or comparison about my quote? I haven't had a chance to contact another local dealer due to work having me completely tied up, but will try to do so. I'd really like to order in the next week or so though. The MX series seems very popular so I was expecting a bit more feedback.

I know I'm a new member so if I didn't introduce myself correctly or missed a rule/guideline I apologize.

Thank you,
Brad

Does the quote that you received break it down by item? It would be a little easier to evaluate if we knew what they wanted for each item.

For your use, I'd be getting ag tires on the tractor...

39k is not way off for what you listed. I live in north central pa and got a few quotes. Parcs was the best for my package deal withtractor, bushhog, trailer, and such as I listed previously. Dubberly in chester virginia was a very close second, only about 500 more. As I got quotes further north, closer to home the prices went up. SSignificantly. So I elected to go with parcs, who gave me the best price, the most options, and allowed me to customize my package to what I wanted more then the other dealers. I have a dealer 20 miles away, but he was a couple thousand higher. So I went with a dealer over 7 hours away. It was a tough decision for me, but I couldnt spend that much extra just to stay loyal.

Just for some more details, my loader is an ansung, not a kubota. I like the ansung better. Saved me 1100 over kubota loader and to me has better features over kubota.

Gear drive saved me 1800 over hst. Hst is nice (I have run both) but I like the gear drive for my applications.

The r4s cost 400 more then ag. I have spun with the r4s but I looked at 2 mx5200 side by side, one with r4s and one with ags. R4s made tractor 8in wider and 2in lower. Also, to me r4s are more puncture resistant, have more surface area for the tire chains to ride on allowing for better traction with chains, and have little more volume for ballast so more weight in rear end for loader counter balance.

Your power angle plow with 3rd function will be a bit of the price on top of the tractor.

The assembly and tested you speak of is nothing special. All kubot dealers have to do this, so dont take it as something "extra" your dealer is offering.

A lot of dealers dont like to itemize prices in package deals, but yours might list each items price, but usually a package can get each item for less then what dealer would ever sell individually.

The mx series is fairly popular from what I see. They offer a nice unit without all the bells and whistles for a decent price.

I am a kubota person, but have you shopped other brands? Might be able to get a very simular tractor for less then your 39k. I chose kubota because that is what I like and have always been around. They fit me best, but I have ran a few others (john deere, new holland, case) which are all built just as good, but dont suit me personally as good as a kubota does. I stay with what I am use to.

Good luck with shopping around. Let us know how you make out. And better late then never, welcome to tbn!

I should've mentioned this purchase was in KY.

I've read that many people buy Kubotas from Barlow's and have them shipped all over. I couldn't ever get them to call me back with a quote though because they were too busy. Maybe I just had bad luck.
