If you want to go used I would not limit yourself to the one obviously not well cared for machine. You need to look at other examples of that type and base their value on condition as well as hours. If the machine really has 100 hours and the damage is cosmetic at the right price it could be a buy. Maybe the dealer swapped the deck and it is only the tractor with 100 hours.
Warranties on machines that do not get much use are a bit of an expensive joke. Many exit the covered period without passing the break in period or child mortality problems.
New x500 *$5,199 *and I am not sure if the is prior to or after a $300 rebate.
Unless I am missing something here maybe your dealer needs to work a bit on the x500 used price.
I see 4 or 5 x500's within 200 miles of you at

Last fall I was looking for a new heavy garden tractor but found a 900 hr
BX2200 with FEL. I had to drive a day to check it out, it was obvious that it was not well cared for. But all the mechanical stuff worked and it was priced over 2K less then similar tractors most with fewer hours. It was the only BX that came close to my price range so I closed the deal and had it shipped home.
Since then the prices have gone up. Maybe small tractors are a seasonal item worth more in the spring. The spread is now 3K or 4K. So far all the problem have been cosmetic or minor. At 900hrs the engine was not much more then broken in. The rest of the tractor shows its age but with some luck it will outlast me. And instead of having something to polish I have something to tinker with. And a whole lot more tractor. YMMV
