Tractor
Kioti CK25
Hey all,
Thanks for all the posts that helped me make the decision to purchase a Kioti! So far I am loving the tractor. I bought a CX25 LTB and Box Scraper (MidWestern 20-60). I was an "early adopter" here in Nevada...read...new dealer...first tractor sold! I was a little apprehensive being the first here, but I liked the tractor way too much.

Uses for the tractor.... First, I own 2.5 acres, 2-5 degree slope, all sage brush and ROCK!!! We are converting the property to "horse property" which means pins, barns, run-in sheds and an arena. Of course...everything must be level. I also have 600yds of private dirt road that must be maintained.
Lastly, I will use it for general landscaping around the house. I need to recut a retaining wall, terrace, etc etc. I looked at renting a tractor and CUT are going for $200 per day! ouch!

I did a lot of research before buying. At first I was almost sold on a BX23. Then after actually seeing one I realised it was WAY too small. A neighbor as a B7400 (18hp SCUT) and he can barely get the sage out. He must use the backhoe as the tractor does not have the ponies or weight to use the FL for it. Other tractor users around here, also in the 20hp range had the same complaints. That is when I noticed to local feed store with these strange new orange tractors out front! At first I thought they were Kutbota's as they were Orange. First time I drove by saying "been there done that...won't work". Then, while picking up some feed, I noticed the brand....which I had never heard of. I asked around and heard people say they heard good things....next I found this list! So...based on good news, good weight, good price, good ponies...I went for it! Price wise, I think I did ok for my region. I got the CX25, R4 tires, KL130 FL, KB2365 BH, Midwestern 20-60 BB, 7% sales tax...out the door for about $22,000. Comparitavly, a BX23 was $17k, B7800 FL $16.5k yada yada. A BH was aprox $6k for Kubota (not including hose kits and sub-frames). So I think I got out OK.

For what its worth, got the tractor home (took it without backhoe while it was on order), dropped the bucket, dropped the hammer in 4WD and headed into the 4' high sage brush and....(hold breath)....it cut thru the stuff like butter! I was SOOOOO happy since I was not able to test drive one first! In short order, I had a fire line cut around my house (just in time for an expected bad bad fire season here).

I have a few operating/hydraulic questions which I will post over on the appropriate forum.

Also, I must figure out a way to deal with the rocks! In one 24' X 40' area I pulled out 1 CU-YD of 8-12" rock (the horse walks around going ouch! ooch! ouch!). I am drooling at a rock bucket at the moment.... any other ideas here?

Thanks eveyone for the good posts (and it looks like a big thank you to KiotiJohn for being so helpfull to others)

I would post a picture...but hey...its orange...and look like all the others! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Congratulations Nevada. I know it's a good feeling to have gotten the tractor home and found that it WILL do the work you need to do. I appreciate your mentioning my contributions, but it takes all of us helping one another to make things great, and there are a lot of helpful posters in these various forums. Many of them don't even own Kioti but like to help out.
We're here if you need us.

How does a guy with 2.5 acres get 27 hours on so soon! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Heck, I got 20 acres and got 11 hours .... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I definitely work too much....and not with my NEW tractor!

I'm just jealous, keep on keeping on, I'll catch up! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Well....uh....maybe its cause I'm really really bad on a tractor? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

No really....first thing I did was level out a pad (about 30'X30' for a shed. It required cutting down about 3' on the slope of the property. The ground was clay so was slow going. I did it all with the bucket since the BH was on backorder. The "honey do" list was long...so I had fun knocking off a big percent of it when I first got the tractor. My wife is now a "Kioti Widow" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

NevadaSmith,
Congratulations on your new puppy. If you love it now, just wait until you get the BH. By the way, where is your dealer? I get to the Reno/Carson City area on a regular basis and would like to check him out if in that area.
