Kioti CK30
New owner here. I've been wanting a tractor for a couple of years now. I got an outstanding deal on a CK30 and brought it home last Wednesday. She has 32 hours. Essentially brand new! Tires still have the moulding on them. All smiles and so are the kids they love it too. No toys on it though. But it did have a loader from the factory. Listing a bunch of things I need to sell anyway for fun money, read loader. Search for a blade and box scraper right now too.

Ok, it does have one problem though. The headlights don't work. Bulbs are good, fuses are good, switch is good. With the ignition on, I turn the light switch on (or the wife did) and I can hear and feel the relay click. Both high and low. With the switches off. I measure nothing at the relay, we're just talking about the low beam relay though neither work. There is a big green and big white wire. Small orange and black wire. Black should be ground, orange should be from the headlamp switch to trigger the relay right? So the white wire to me looks like it should sent power when the relay is tripped to the headlights. So when I measure the output, that white wire. Nothing with the lights and ignition on. When I flip the switch I will get 12v at the orange wire and again I hear the relay click. No other wire has any voltage on it. With the ignition on or off/headlight switch on or off.

I notice on the fuse it says "headlight horn" It has the same looking green wire that goes to the relay. I'm starting to think there is an open between the two points but how can I find it it's all inside the harness? Anyone have a wiring diagram? This tractor looks brand new. So abuse its not the thing here. I'm wondering if something got over looked at the factory. And I don't have a horn did it get missed or is that a generic cover and the CK30 doesn't get a horn?

Am I over looking something? Help me out here fella's it's driving me nuts!

Thank You,
Brandon

Do I read right that you are thinking of selling the loader? Think twice! You will not believe how useful it is.

Brandon, I know your pain. Join the club. lol When mine was new I had exactly the same problem. Now, I am a mechanic. I checked everything and everything checked OK but they just would not go. (every now and then they would) Switch was OK. Wiring OK. Relay OK. Globes OK. Earth return OK, etc. Checked all the main harness plugs as they have been known to cause a problem, especially the ones underneath the floor. So after being totally frustrated and confused, I fitted 2 x relays and ran the switch wire to them and used one relay for low beam and one for high beam. It has been perfect ever since. I haven't worried about the hazard lights.... Only one works and I can't find that either. Once again it all checks out and the indicators work fine. I don't want to pull the thing to pieces as it just is not worth the trouble. I hardly ever work at night anyway.
Yes I have the Electrical diagram in PDF. Send me an email leithz@bigpond.com
The CK30 has a horn, but if it is not used they 'freeze' up. Get your wife to hold the horn button down with key on and give it a few sharp taps with a shifter.

Oh no. The one it had from the dealer was taken off. Before the PO ever bought it. So I'm saying I'm selling things at the house for tractor money. Mainly a new loader. I can't wait to get one!

That's pretty odd... I'm a stickler though I have to fix it! One of my turn signals didn't work either. Had my 3.5 year old boy play screw driver on the lense and we found a bulb not seated right. So everything else works not. Just not the stinking lights!

The switch is sending the trigger voltage but the relay itself doesn't have main power off that fuse which is how I think it should work. I could just pull power from the battery and fuse it to the relay but I don't wanna do that. Anyone else have any ideas?

I started to look under the floor and the connectors you mentioned but it was time to hang it up. I'll shoot you and email thanks! And where's the horn button? Not on the steering wheel is it?

Success!!!

Yesterday when I was testing I remember I had 1.1 volt on the big green wire at the relay. So the only thing left to check is the wiring itself. I pulled the harness connector on the right side of the tractor under the floor closest to the center. That killed my 1.1 volt so I knew that was my power harness.

I looked inside and found some black stuff in there and one of the pins busted. I tested 12 volts on the broken connector. I pulled the headlight fuse and my voltage was gone. So I know I found the headlight power.

I took a toothpick and some alcohol (Not Jack) and cleaned the inside of each slot and pin. Then put on some no-oxide. Not able to salvage that pin as it was rotted or something. I took a finishing nail (honestly this turns out well) and cut it down to size. Pressed it into the harness and it clicked together fine. Tested and I now had 12 volts at my big green wire. Bolted the relay back up and bamo lights on!

The look on my face was probably almost as excited as when I brought her home last week! It's my one week anniversary by the way. lol

Thanks for the help! I'll still take that wiring diagram though.

DON'T SELL THE LOADER, YOU'LL REGRET IT!! Especially if you haven't had a tractor before you don't know how useful for many many things it will be.

Good find on the wiring harness connector. On my DK35 the horn button is the center of the light switch push it and see what happens.. the horn is by the battery. Mrutkaus, I think he meant he was saving up to put a loader back on the tractor, it does not have one on it now.

I guess I was as clear as mud. I don't have a loader. I want one.
