this is my first post here, i am sooooo glad to have found a kioti dedicated site. thank you for having me.

i just purchased a lb1914 sn 404000236 with a KL102 loader, and am looking for information i can not find in the owner/operator manual. i've read every post on the LB1914, and am happy to see there are few maintenance related posts. it tellls me the kioti is a good machine.

- can anyone tell me the year it was made?
- does anyone have a cross-reference list for filters (air, hydraulic, oil, fuel)?
- it presently has 2 major problems
1. the shifting isn't consistent, it occassionally pops out of 6th gear (at the gear shift) not when driving, but when shifting it there then trying to start off, and the shuttle shift is difficult to place in forward position sometimes, i may have to double clutch it.
2. the hour meter doesn't work, tach does.

thanks in advance, i really appreciate your help and respect the knowledge on this board. sorry for the long post.

Welcome to the pack, Tim!

I'm sorry my experience can't help with your problems, but I'd be surprised if someone won't have some suggestions.

Congratulations on your new machine.

I'm sure you will get some good input on your questions. Sorry, I can't help you out

Welcome to TBN Tim. Regarding your LB1914, there are not too many active owners on the Kioti forum but I'm sure that the active dealers can be of help. If the PA in your TBN name stands for Pennsylvania then Wallace Tractor in Lake Ariel near Scranton would be a good bet. Let us know what region you are in and perhaps we can point you to a dealer.

I bought all my manuals from Rick Wallace, same goes for all filter kits, for the money I just feel better going with the factory filters.

I also call him on occassion with technical questions.

first of all, i must say i expected more from this forum in the form answers, rather then hijacking my thread. the hijacker got more response then my post. thank you ERE, jimb1724, and IslandTractor for the welcome.

Wow! Sour grapes there.

It was mentioned that there are not a lot of LB1914 owners out there so your audience is relatively small. IT was trying to assist you and you never responded to his question. It takes two to have a dialogue.

Let us know what region you are in and perhaps we can point you to a dealer.

While the link I gave said 3054, (that was a copy and paste accident), you will see your manual there as well as I was actually answering your post and checked for his model while I was there. You are to quick to judge simply because some quote his request when the answer holds true for both.

Welcome Tim, the shifting problem is just the nature of the beast I too have the lb1914, love it. Just try to slow down and double clutch, when I get in a hurry is when I start to grind the gears. I Bought used with 84hrs and not a clue on what I was doing. TBN has been helpful, theres not a hole lot of info on these compact tractors, that I can find. As for the year there is a thread for it, try to goggle it that usually will bring it up. There is also a frame color change blue was for upper 90s then went to grey frame for the newer models, along with two different engines. I hope this was helpful, glad to see another 1914 on here.

thanks for the info casey. yeah, i've learned to slow down too. i'm getting used to the shuttle shift, but it still pops out of 2 hi on occassion. also have to get used to the throttle direction (opposite of my fords). i didn't have any luck on the year search, will keep trying. do you have a loader or back hoe on yours? if so what model? thanks again.

Hi TimPa,
Going by the serial# you gave it apears to be a 1994 year of manufacture.
The owners manual is out of production for that year, but the newer LB1914 owners manual part# 02883-20502
I tried to look up the in-service date, but it was way before we had warranty online services.
There are not too many companies that copy Kioti filters yet. You might find that WIX makes a fuel filter. The filters are reasonable from a Kioti Dealer and most will ship them to you if you don't have a local dealer.
The hour meter sounds like an internal problem in the meter itself. If the tach is working then the cable is OK(cable driven)
The shifting is most likely a wear problem and may have to be adjusted or re-shimmed.
Try not to lose patience with these guys they will be a big help to you more often then not. Occasionally we get side tracked but we can usually get your questions answered for you.
Good Luck and happy tractoring.

OK here goes:

1* - Contact a dealer with your serial number
2* - No. I recommend you purchase your filters from a dealer, at least one I know of offers free shipping on filter kits, that's what I've done two years running.
3.1* - Bring it to a dealer have it repaired. Or, as mentioned in other posts (hi-jacked), purchase the shop manual, another step I've taken which has been very useful.
3.2* - Purchase a new hour meter and install it, that's what I did when my brake light sending unit broke.

FYI,

Your response to initial posters does nothing to encourage others to respond after all this is a voluntary forum, right? What I mean to say is, we all take valuable time out of our days trying to help eachother.

thanks for the info, kiotidave. are you saying the tach cable is also the drive for the hour meter? i suspected it to be electrically driven.

i apologize if i ruffled feathers on my disappointment comment. i own several older tractors: 1949 ford 8n; 1979 ford 3600 w/fel, and the forums i regularly participate in are much more maintenance oriented, likely becaue the tractors age have allowed users to build a knowledge base. we go to dealers at last resort, not that they aren't good, but we like to work on the tractors ourselves. the forums are the best tool in the toolbox.

Welcome TimPa and Pinkittens. I will second what a lot of folks have said about Rick Wallace and other dealers on this site, most will bend over backward to give you a helping hand.
I just had a problem with a leaking oil drain plug on my Kioti 45, with help from members on this site and a call from Rick to Kioti the fix has been made. Now I don't have to hop off the tractor every five minutes to make sure the plug is still in place.:)

Hi TimPa,
The cable drives the tach and the tach internally drives the hour meter. If the tach is working correctly, then the problem is inside the meter head. At least this is how the more recent models are. I have not worked on a mid nineties LB1914.
You may want to get a 12 volt hour meter and tie it in somehow with the alternator output so it only regiters when the engine is running. I think that is what Joel had mentioned in an earlier post.
Hope this helps.
