Get a manual. All the info you could ever need to know. And ~$30. That is cheap considering a $19,000 investment in the tractor. First thing I did was get a manual when I got my TC40D.
Otherwise, as others have noted, if you are facing the tractor, the hood latch is at the bottom left corner of the hood, in the front.
And, there is a big label on the inside of the hood that lists oils ect.
