Well ....I went and did it, got a new 3010 w/ FEL & HST to be delivered later this week, after running a 51 Farmall H for the last 20 yrs I'm looking forward to a new and exciting experience and I want to thank you guys for all the help and advice you gave me.I'll be using it around 20 acres of mostly woods, moving dirt and snow banks in the winter. Opening up snowed in drives and playing with it, what I need to know is what are the do's and don't's of running a new tractor? also is an additive required for diesel fuel?I'm looking forward to getting to know my new baby. Thanks in advance

Congratulations on your new machine,,, I've got 52 hours on mine....your gonna love it for sure. I've been amazed at how much work I can do. My wife says I'm just playing...but whatever...it sure is fun. Just read your owners manual, it'll tell you all about it.

Roadtrash,

Congrats. You'll love it. I have had my L3010 for almost 1 yr now. Still love it. As for the do's and don'ts of a NEW machine. Go easy on her for the first 20-30 hrs. Gentle on the throttle. No problem going to PTO RPM, but try not to go over, and be steady with the throttle. No rapid changes. As for diesel fuel, Most importantly, keep it clean. No crud, no water. No an additive is not necessary at all. It gives some people the warm and fuzzies, but mainly they are snake oil. Unless it sets for several months. That's not so good. Diesel will grow (literally) crud in it. However, my dad has a 250 gl overhead tank that gets filled twice a year, or less. He has never had any problems with bad diesel in it, so with normal intelligent use, this will never be a problem.

Like steveky said, read the manual. It contains most of the important stuff, and gives you some thing to do while you wait. Just try and keep the drool off of it. The water stains will be annoying at a later date.

Good luck on the waiting game, it will be a very long wait, but will be much shorter in hindsight. And be sure and get a hat. I finally got mine 2 weeks ago. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
