Johnny...you're going to love that washer. I got mine from Northern about 7 or 8 years ago...I got the 11 hp Honda with the CAT pump and I've never had a moments trouble with it.

Pressure washers are useful for so many things, you will really enjoy it. Jon, I hope you have much better continued success with your CAT pump then me. I also have a pressure washer from Northern Tool purchased in 1996 with a 13 HP Honda and a CAT pump, or should I say two CAT pumps. I have had nothing but issues with the CAT pumps on mine. I have now discovered that #2 cylinder (of three) has a broken rod. The cost to replace it and new seals almost exceeds the cost of a new pump. I will be getting a new pump on order this week, it will not be a CAT brand. I cannot wait to get it back and working. 3500 PSI and more importantly, 4.0 GPM. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

We've got the NorthStar 11hp Honda with the CAT pump @ 4,000psi with the quick disconnect nozzles, it's awesome but takes some muscle to hold onto.

We also got the quick attach Kurchner TurboNozzle - whoa, this thing will chip concrete right off the floor or a concrete block!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I got the Godzilla with 94 diesel horsepower, 12,000 psi and a 1.5 inch diameter hose. Now that I ruined my tractor with it, I use it for brush clearing.

I'm probably the only person on TBN that doesn't own a pressure washer. Have thought about buying one on several occasions but the thought of forcing water into places it shouldn't be has always stopped me. Heavens knows my old Ford 3000 could use a good washing but again forcing wet stuff into places that shouldn't be wet worries me.

So what has your experience been and what do you use your pressure washer for?

Why would you be forcing wet stuff into places it should not be? If its the loader bushings for example, a shot or two of grease clears it, you can get that simply by leaving it in the rain. Its easy to control where and just how forceful the spray is. It saves a ton of water when compared to using a garden hose at 10 to 20 GPM and is much faster as well as effective.

Bob, I'm sure that could happen, and I know there are certain recommendations to keep water out of some particular places, but I've been washing my car and pickup engines for 50 years and I pretty regularly washed my tractors, engine and all. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would say I'm doing it wrong, but the only place under the hood that I avoid shooting water is the air intake. The one "precaution" I take is that I run the car, pickup, or tractor for awhile after washing under the hood to get it warm enough to dry everything out. And so far, the only problem I've ever had was when I washed the engine on my '70 Oldsmobile at one of the coin operated car wash places, didn't notice the little door for adjusting the dwell was open on the distributor and got water in the distributor. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Even that didn't take me long to find and correct.

Actually, Bob, there are two of us that don't have pressure washers on TBN. I had a little electric Karcher for years that has worked well for me as far as cleaning the car, driveway, etc. But, it just wouldn't do the trick on REALLY getting wheels clean, house and deck cleaning and forget about a muddy tractor. I recently gave it to my father to use on his camper which should be perfect. Made up my mind last fall to find something more powerful - at least 2500 PSI.

Another reason to pursue something larger was becuase for what I was going to be charged to have the house pressure washed, for a little bit more I can go buy one - that's what I am telling the wife /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Take care,
Eddie

Thanks guys, guess my paranoia stems from bad experiences washing motorcycles in 25 cent car washes. After a while you discover your electrical connections no longer connect and your stering head bearings are rusted.
