So I just bought a new RTV 1100.
Brought it home from the dealership and drove it straight into the shop to install the ranch radio and the FM radio.
I have had a 900 since july of 06 and put 980 odd hours on it. It's a great machine. I put a cab and heater on it and quite a few other things that I learned thru the months of using it.
The reason I went out and bought an 1100 is last week I went to change the trans oil and got four big pieces of metal out of it. After a lot of research and calling Messicks (thanks guy at Messicks!! Can't remember your name, :( ) I figured out that it was the pins for the diff lock. So it's out in the far garage right now, waiting to get the power pack pulled when i get time and rebuild the trans. New motors, pumps, new diff pins, etc.
I thought about selling it or trading it in, but I can't do that and be able to sleep at night. So I'm going to tear into it and fix it myself.

First impressions of the 1100, great machine, wonderful cab. The ai tight cab and awesome heater makes me giggle. The high today was 13F, yesterday it barely hit 9F.

Tomorrow I'll be out in the shop wiring up the radio and installing my two-way radio. Looks like i will have to wait it gets warmer to do a Herculiner. I didn't do one in my 900, and I really wish i did. I have a set of seat covers coming from Greene Mtn. already. I have two dogs that go with me just about everywhere, I'm sure that they will love the heater.

I am also considering getting the rear window screen and the high mount air filter, anyone have opinions on those?

Another note, while I am doing the trans rebuild on the 900, should I post about how things are inside the trans with pictures? I am thinking that after i get it back together to either turbo it (SW AG kit) or sell it and buy a set of tracks for the 1100. My biggest complaint about the 900 has been the overheating and the tires. I can't seem to make a set of tires hold up. The best thing I ever did was buy a case of fix-a-flat, slime the **** out of the tires and buy a plugging kit. Can't tell you how many trips to town that stuff has saved me, much less walks home.

Kubota factory: You're build tractors with tracks on them from the factory, now make an RTV with factory tracks and make it run 25 MPH!!! I hate flat tires!!!

Do alot of firewood so the rear screen is a must but be careful when dumping as stuff stack above bed and pushed forward will hit screen. High mount air intake makes air filters last longer otherwise it sucks dust kicked up by wheels. Put Kubota bedliner in as wood gets thrown in bed and protects from dents. Have the seat covers and the dog likes the air conditioning in the summer as much as the heat in the winter, might have to get coast valve as he hates hitting windshield when stopping on the hills. The factory work lights and winch kit are expensive but makes install easy and quick.

The coast valve made my RTV1100 go from rarely ever used by anyone but me to being very popular around the house. It's rather expensive for a small valve ($129 or so), but it makes more difference in the drive of the RTV than anything else. I did put larger tires on that rubbed. :( That caused me to add a lift kit (another $129). At least I was able to put the lift kit on in about an hour.

I did the Herculiner on my RTV900. I used enough to do a couple of fullsized pickup trucks and it was still nothing more than slightly thick textured paint. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give the Herculiner a big fat 1 at tops. I bought several kits to do my RTV900 so it would be thick, so I thought. I still have 1 unopened Herculiner kit sitting on the shelf. It might be okay for painting loading ramps or walkways where you need a little grip, but it is not any sort of protective bedliner. It cost me an extra $200 to have it removed before I had a RhinoLiner installed. I most definitely skipped the Herculiner waste on my RTV1100 and had Line-X installed. It's okay, but I prefer RhinoLiner after having both. I'd give the RhinoLiner a 10 and the Line-X a 7 where I was generous giving the Herculiner a 1 rating.

I have the high air intake. It seems to catch quite a bit of dust in the clear bowl at the top, but it rattles like a SOB! I have more rubber pieces wedged around that thing and more foam tape around it than I care to think about. I can't believe Kubota didn't think about the earsplitting rattle it makes when you are at half throttle or more.

I finished putting the stereo and two way radio in after lunch and have been out playing in it for the last hour. It's 20 degrees outside right now, and the heater will about run you out of the cab! i didn't even have it turned all the way up either.

thanks for the comments re: Herculiner, I can't do it until it warms up some anyway. I don't have good enough ventilation in my shop to work with the chemicals.

I put the rear screen on mine. I wanted it mostly to protect the glass from road objects that might hit it while trailering, so now i back it on the trailer. my dealer told me that they can adjust the valve on the 1100 to reduce the engine breaking. I have gotten used to it so I didn't have them adjust it when I had it serviced. MIght be worth checking with your dealer before ordering coast valve.
