NONE YET BUT LOOKING HARD
I just bought an older gehl skid steer at an auction and would like to build a grapple for it but seeing as I dont know squat about hydraulics I was thinking about using a 12 volt hydraulic pump from northern hydraulic or surplus center to power the grapple.Am I crazy for doing this or is this a sound theory?I would like to start this as soon as possible so all the feedback I can get will be great.

I have to guess the gehl has a relatively simple means of adding an aux. circuit to power your grapple. This would be a better option. Have you looked online for a copy of a service manual? I can certainly understand your want for a grapple !!

In a word, Yes-you are carzy! I am sure that machine can power a grapple very simply.

Talk to a dealer or find someone nearby who does know hydraulics.Depending upon the system you may already have power beyond or just need to tap into the return line for another valve.

Sorry I have not responded in a while I have been real busy with the honey do and such.I contacted gehl and the sent me a service book and it shows a grapple as a optional tool and where they mounted the valve but I cant see where the line tie into the hydraulics,I am going to email them to see if they have some more info on it.Thanks for the help.

Do you have aux. hydraulics? that would be a big plus

Your SS sounds like it didn't come with aux hydro, you would see the quick connects up front. If you do, it's a no brainer, buy a grapple bucket and plug it in! Dealer can probably install a set for you too. Bring your wallet though.....$$$
