New small turbo diesel pickup

Looks like Hyundai may be serious about giving us a small turbo diesel pickup: Hyundai Santa Cruz Pickup Truck Revealed: Diesel-Powered and Super Rad ? News ? Car and Driver

In a Motor Trend update, they say maybe next year.

It's a Brat-sized (still kicking myself for not getting one in the 2003, their last year) one but unibody type, very nice looking.

You know, a few years ago, the car magazines were saying because it takes so much effort to design and develop a vehicle that we'll see fewer coming out.

Guess with fully computer design and development, they can do a new vehicle with quite a bit lower cost now. Never have I ever seen so many different kinds and types.

Yet, we still have no hybrid or electric pickups. We could completely do with an all electric one.

Actually, I meant the Baja, last made in 2006.

I've often said that a functional vs political hybrid would be diesel/electric... I.E., a takeoff from a locomotive. A diesel's biggest enemy is people who need to "tune 'em"... when a brand new pickup spews so much black smoke that people behind them are blinded, it ain't doing anybody any good.
