I saw this in the paper over the weekend and I am enticed. At $1700, it is less than half the cost of the super-split.

Anybody know anybody who has one?

I have been reading the reviews over on that arborist site . com (if you follow ) and it seems the first production run has had a lot of issues - broken racks I believe, and some out of balance fly wheels. I believe Speeco stopped selling them for now (not sure if they're back on the market). After thinking it through and considering my budget, I went with a conventional 27 ton hydraulic splitter, but I don't split commercially so speed was not my top priority. I would wait for the fix (which I believe is hardened steel) to be rolled out, and then some positive user reviews.

Tractor Supply had them but they seem to be discontinued now. I hope they come back on the market at TSC as the price was right

There are alot of positive reviews over there, people seem to be happy with the costs and what they bought.

Depending on the TSC you can still find them, last I hear they are shipping new ones with more heat treatment in the rack, seems odd they can screw that up.

After watching that nice video the whole thing looks way to light and spindley to me. It looks like it even has bent up or formed sheet metal guides and table. IMO there is no way that will survive the hammering for very long. The idea seems good but I would wait and let someone else run the beta test.

It's not less than half of a SS. I paid about $2600-2700 for mine delivered. $1700 is well more than half...

All the current designs seems to be top heavy and appear spindly, but I can assure you that the SS is no lightweight. It's almost too durn heavy to move around by hand on anything but level ground. Like 400 lbs or so.

I went by my local TSC store the other day and TSC is starting to sell the SpeedPro again. I got my on sale too for $1499...that was $200 off the $1699 tag. I couldn't pass it up, the $200 paid for the three year extended warranty. Already split a load of wood today before the thunderstorm rolled in.

I looked at these last year when they first came out.....very interesting but wanted to wait until they had some reviews. I just left my tractor supply about an hour ago....the store manager there told me the ones being sold are left overs from last year and are not the knew ones. I'm going to try to contact TSC corporate to get better answer.
